Well i finished my longtube project. I think they came out very clean and professional looking. I only spent $11 on one j-bend pipe to finish the middle primary. The rest was using the original pipes and bends, reworking them slightly or using straight pipe peices that i had.

Once the drivers side was done i had to rework the pass side slightly. The pass side touched the starter (#1 primary) and wasn't good enough for me. So i bent the primary away from the starter 1/2" and then cut the longer portion of the pipe to shorten it, then added a section of pipe from the flange to the first bend. It fits very nicely in the car. Oh and I cut off the EGR fitting and patched it with a piece of pipe and tig welded the whole thing.

Here are the finished pics, hopefully you guys will approve of them. Pass side installed view are soon to come. Oh and thats just header paint for now to protect the headers for the trial runs, then I will send them out to get ceramic coated in a few weeks. The collectors end up in-line with the tranny crossmember and are even with the frame rails so it looks super clean. Let me know what you guys think, best I could do for a bored 19yr kid.

Who taught ya how to weld like that? That's better than I can ever hope to do! And the best part is they only cost you, what did you say 11 quid, hell you win! cheers and beers Frank H.

Thanks for the replies guys....I added some more pics of the pass side installed. The funny thing is....i never tig welded before. I have all this stuff in my garage, mig, tig, stick, and torches all basically brand new. To make a long story short, my dad is a welding instructor so I had all the tools. However he never really showed me how to weld...i just kinda picked it all up from watching him from time to time. I thought i did fairly well with little or no experience. After this project I dont think I'd ever use a mig again since i even did all the tack welding with the tig. Much more control and very clean.

The thin beads of weld were sanded down flat with the rest of the pipe to make it look clean. That middle primary is actually welded in 9 spots.

Total for this project was $170 including the price of the headers. I was able to obtain one brand new pass side header from a well know guy on this site for free, and I just purchased the drivers side right from MAC for $140, and then one bend from summit for $11 and then little odds and ends. Anyways...thanks for the replies guys!

How about editing OUT the pics from your quote. You are RE-posting the original pics, which makes downloading the thread Extremely slow! Re-posting the pics doesn't add anything to your comment, but it does make the Dl twice as slow.
