I was quoted by Lordco $100 for a B&M Shift-Kit. Are they worth it? How easy to install? What are the Pro- Cons? Also I was quoted $327. for a lowering kit. But I would like some feedback on the shift kit.

Dunno about the B&M, but I got my trans-go for $100 and I love it

The common opinion is Trans-Go over anything else. For the most part the only complaints on the transgo are the instructions. Ive found that Transgo's are more for serious enthusiats, harder shifting, and more involved. The B&M's tend to be cushy, consumer products. It really comes down to a matter of preference because both will claim to be better. Dependent on which stage u go with to. Nevertheless, both will save your trannys life at least slightly!
I think though, youll find most people on the SC boards choose The transgo.

327 sounds like a pretty good price for the lowering stuff...what exactly all was involved and what brand, just wondering?

what didn't ya like bout the B&M and yeah i got the transo cost me like 120 or something installed and all (kinda while they were fixin my engine) I like it obviously, firms up the shifts and lets you hold gears longer if you step on it you can hold it till redline basically if thats what your into and what not...or you can shift yourself yada yada.
I had the transgo stage 1 i believe. heh

Well the guy that installed it in my car said that he set to a med. setting and the shifts are still kind of soft..... Nothing like in your car Scott... And the shift points are still not high enough for me so i still shift the car myself....I would have gone with the transgo if i could have but it would have cost me another $100.... so...... went with the B&M

and since your car is a '97 with the 4R70W.. i would*NOT* requidmend getting a B&M shift kit... i've heard alot of bad things about them.. best bet is to go onto TCCoA, go to the custom chip forum.. and ask for Dennis's fun #... i think it'll cost around $400+, but least it'll be SAFE and you'll know the tranny will last :)
but your car, your Money, do as you wish...

the one time you drove with me, my car was a lil on the fritz, they're not usually quite that hard lol. I got another new tranny just after that...they're noticable and like when your racing and it gets to like 5g and it shifts it gets a nice kick
but like not hard enough to squak tires or anything...

Ya.... Mine doesn't even come close to being able to squeek the tireswhen shifting. There is a little difference in the shifting but not enough for my liking.....

Scott, I don't know what brand it was, but the kit includes 4 springs, and 2 bushings.
