Installed it this weekend.. Did anyone else have a hard time installing this? I had to trim the heat shield on the gas tank waaay back, and nothing lined up with the brace???
I had to do some major elongating in the holes to fit.
The ears are also too tall, they hit the welds on the subframe. I had to cut them down with a hack saw.
Maybe my sufbrame is bent up? Its entirely possible with all the power I'm putting down..

Also it would not fit without major hacking with the washers, so I have no washers installed.
Yep, had to cut the ears lower on mine as well. The welds would inferior with the brace sitting square and flat against the sub frame. The holes aligned correctly on mine but, like 92Bird I had to eliminate the washers. I will jack the car and snap some pictures tonight. Just remember no 2 welds will ever be the same, especially when they’re as crapy as they are on the sub frame. You will have to trim the heat shield to remove/install the LCA forward nut. Get yourself a 15" crescent if you don't have a collection of tractor wrenches. It’s a big nut.

Has anybody else install their brace? Going to install mine in the next coupe of weeks.
Rich, Is this standard to do some modification on the bolt up? Would like to know before I pull it into the shop. Your Instructions on your web site seem to pretty straight forward.

I apologize for the problems you are having with the fitment of the brace. I will try to answer your questions.
The ears are also too tall, they hit the welds on the subframe. I had to cut them down with a hack saw.
Since the subframe is welded by hand from the factory the welds maybe inconsistent. If the pinion brace lower control arm mounting tabs do not lay flush to the lower control arm box the factory welds maybe too big causing it to contact the mounting tabs. Some subframes maybe made with the welds closer to the LCA bolt than others. If the weld is too thick a grinding wheel may be needed to flatten the extra weld bead around the LCA. The mounting tabs are 2" in diameter.

Also it would not fit without major hacking with the washers, so I have no washers installed.
Support the differential pinion before removing the differential bushings. Once the differential bushings are removed. Install the polyurethane differential bushings but do not reinsert the two bolts through the differential yet.
The LCA mounting is done first. Removing the nut from the LCA bolt and knocking the bolt back so it does not stick out from the LCA box. The brace has a tight fit.
Remove the two LCA nuts and knock the two bolts back through the LCA box. Verify the Pinion brace mounting tabs lay flush against the LCA box. Grind weld bead to provide necessary clearance if needed. Once you have about 1" of threads showing install the nut. Do not torque the LCA nut yet. If the differential prevents or blocks you from getting the LCA tabs aligned then remove the LOWER half of the differential bushing or increase the pinion angle to provide the needed clearance. If you still have OEM differential bushings your only option is to increase the pinion angle to provide the needed clearance. Rotating the driveshaft maybe necessary to allow the U-Joint to move up.
Install the lower differential part of the bushing and add the washer between the brace and bushing. Lower the pinion back down. Drop the two differential bolts back down through the pinion brace. Some moving of the brace maybe needed to allow the bolts to drop through the brace. Remember the brace is a tight fit.

Installed mine today and it fit perfect, nice and tight. Everything lined up and worked fine. Used Rich’s directions and did have the gas tank out for a fuel pump upgrade which might if made if easier. Good well made product though.

I just wanted to say that its been over a month now since I installed this part, and I am VERY happy with it! It was a little difficult to install on my particular car, but very much worth it.
The car feels much more solid now.
