Damon do you know of a adjustable aluminum coil over shock.
That would work for the frontend of my bird?

Or what would you buy for an adjustable coil-over set up for a bird.

THANKS RANDY.

Shane
I had set up a group buy for a k-member about a year ago.
Alot of people and some vendors did there up most best
to kill the deal.I think about 4 or 5 people bought a
k-member.

I just don't talk much about the AJE k-member anymore.
There are a lot of self center people lurking around on
this board. They talk like they want to see this and that
developed as far as SC parts go.AS long as they can
control every part.

I heard that this board had a reputation of this before
George took over, before I came around.A few people
wanted to control all the parts. Some are still here.
I beleive this Is why SC parts are hard to come by.
Some vendors did and are still tring to kill any part
they do not have sole rights to.

I just know about going ons the last couple years. Some
older members know more than I do.I havent been here
long enough to have met them all.but A couple of them
are still here.

Randy,

Wow! I have to admit I was unaware of that type of thing happening around here. I must be in the dark or something because I not once have heard about people wanting totall control, but I can see it happenig since there is a limited market for our cars so if one person had all the aftermarket then they could charge outragious prices. You guys need to enlighten me and fill me in on the details. Or can we not talk about this sort of thing here?

Randy, I think that if you have a better product (price/performance wise) than your competition, then SCers will buy from you. You will have to promote it, though.

I think us old timers all know what goes on around here. Its no suprise.....

I will say that everything I buy for my car is unreal as far as price. I have my own thoughts why. I think a good example is trying to buy a cam and the vendor refuses to give you specs. on it. Any time a vendor has excluusive rights to sell a part you want what happens to the price? I love my car but like I have said many times it cost at least twice as much to buy parts for our cars. Lowering springs are ok but it sure would be nice to be able to get drag springs and 90/10 shocks. Most places you call say a Thunderbird what?

Tim,

The only way youll get lucky in that department is if a stang uses the parts as well. There just will never be a large aftermarkets for our cars..But luckily there are people willing to make crap for it...

Ive had an SC's for the past 10 years and didnt start to even think of modding one till about 2 years ago since I felt there was enough hipo parts out there to justify it. WIth hard to find parts like aftermarket Aluminum pulleys, Forged piston/351 H beam rods, main girdles and NEW cam cores...Its better then it ever was. With that foundation you go buckwild because in my opinion that takes care of a majority of the weak pointd of our cars that would otherwise be hard to get around efficiently.

A new Head casting?.....<Maybe if the stang crowd gets uppity..

Damon,

I must really be out of the loop. I've been on these boards everyday for years and I honestly don't know who you, Mike and Randy are reffering to. I can remember when Bill Hull wouldn't allow people to talk about other parts, but didn't really see much of that after Bill Evanoff took over the club.

Since George bought the club from Bill, I haven't seen where any parts suppliers or vendors have received special treatment good or bad. I do recall hearing about some posts being moved or deleted, but I don't think that had anything to do with one parts supplier trying to control another.

Please quit beating around the bush and spell it out, because at least one old timer has no idea who or what you guys are talking about.

Damon,
I don't need or have to use the u shape mounting that is
on the bottom of the stock SC shock. My AJE lower control
arm is set up for the stock type SC shock. But I have made
another lower control arm from 4130 chrom-moly.It has
more adjustmemt than the stock or AJE lower control
arm ,for toe.And I can weld a more conventional mounting
tabs to bolt a shocks bottom to.(A shock with a round mounting
end.)

I was looking for a aluminum body adjustable shock, that is
threaded for adjustments.I want this so I can run my SC at
a normal heigth,Or drop the front a couple inches when
I feel the need to go drag racing.

I was wondering if you had ever ran into a aluminum adjustable
shock,That also had adjustment knob to adjust the rebouned
and compression, that could be used for drag racing & daily speed
bump driving.

I do not have much experiance in this area.I just thought that
you may have or one of your race freinds you been around had
a setup that would work good, first for the street, twisties and
dragracing.

I know that I am asking for a multi use shock that may not exist.

Thanks Randy.

yeah, same here,i think if you're going to make a statement like that you should be prepared to back it up with some verifiable facts

It's true - if we all knew who was trying to "control all the parts", we could all do something about it by making a conscious effort to buy from the newer vendors trying to break into the SC market... I think part of the reason SC go fast parts are so expensive is because the demand is much more limited than parts for say, a Mustang. But I also think that if a seller or sellers have sole distribution rights, he or they can set the price, or agree to "price-fix", if there intent based more on greed than anything else... Let's put a stop to it!

(Now, I'm not talking about people who make there own 1-of-a-kind parts or kits, like Randy, XR7Dave, Mike 38SC etc. I think these people are barely making a profit and are only doing it because they love the SC and enjoy being responsible for "pushing the envelope" in the SC world!)
