Well with the fantastic help I got from Scott Semeniuk (ss_scuba) my SC lives again. On top of doing the HG's I had the heads done and we added a raised top, ported blower and DIC. The car seems to pull WAY harder after 4000rpms. I ran it to 5200 rpms and the car wanted to keep going. April 15th the track opens here so I will have it out for some times. Thanks again Scott for the help and to those who have handed out advice. I am a very happy camper. :D

That's great to hear, it's always refreshing when things turn out the way you wanted. :D The best part is that it gets better from here. :)

David
David,

Yes, I did get the gauges working and I have about 35psi at idle and 65psi at cruise for oil pressure. I do have some pinging still so I will change the fuel filter and see what happens. I do have a weird swiriling sound coming from under the dash on the drivers side when I hit boost. It may be just noise coming from the 2" hole I cut in the firewall to get all the wires through. I raced 3 cars tonight, a 78 Fairmount with a 302, another SC that a girl said was better than mine and a BMW. I ATE them all. The car really hauls. :D My main belt is touching where they meet at the waterpump so I need to do something about that also. Any ideas?

I can not wait for the track to open and I hope to get mid 14's. Get your cars ready and we will all have some fun. :)

I'm glad to see you not afraid to finally start it and drive it. It turned out great! Anytime you need a hand, give me a shout, you know the number.

Scott,

Yes it did turn out great. I would like to sleep in it tonight but my wife says no. :D Thanks again for all your help.

Atta go boys. I can't wait to get home and get elbows deep into my baby. April 15 huh. I will be there, and with any luck, the Cat will be hauling some serious ***. Although it looks like it is going to be very tough to keep up with Marty. I can't wait to get home!!

Marty,

With underdrives the belt can get very close above the WP pulley. It would probably help to install a new belt, but that's a real pain because you have to pull the lower radiator hose.

The belt is less than a year old. Maybe if I installed a shorter one. I might just remove the A/C compresser and fip the tensioner.

Good to hear Marty. I don't know if my car will be any quicker by April 15th, but I'll be at the track, I want to break into the 15's, that 16.03 is laughing at me daily. ;-)

Hopefully I can tend to the exhaust before then, and get my Eibach's out of there, they can't be helping my launch any. That and I'm like 15 or so pounds lighter now too should push me over the edge. :D

Add a few spacers, or washers to mount the AC, that will move the belt a little further away from touching.

Great idea Ryan. How much would I need to move it?

It would be nice to have as many SC's and one XR7 (Dave) as possible at the track the day it opens. I hope I run a lot faster because I have a couple of people I need to exact revenge on. :)

Man if you hit mid 14's you'd be basically running high 13's @ Sea Level. Does that make you one of the faster ones in AB, or Western Canada for that matter?

I'd say about 1/4 inch. :)

Damn! Why didn't I think of that. Oh well...that's not too hard to do, just have to get some washer's that'll fit over the locating dowels on the A/C compressor.

On a side note Marty, I found my shop manual.....it was out at a shop that I deal with quite frequently because they wanted a bunch of info on the TBird's.

I can't wait to get there and see what happens. It feels a lot faster but the clock will tell. I am hoping to at least get the fastest in Calgary even if is only for a short time.

Dave,

I am iching to get my hands on the AR kit. Then that would put me in top spot for a while.

I am going to be gunning hard to be Alberta's fastest SC. Breathing down your neck. It will make for a very good summer. Of course with my luck I won't even catch Vern's 14.7.

Dave,

What are your next mods? What more do you think you will have done by April?

Man, this winter thing sucks! Dave, how long till your back man? :)

Would there be any interest in a dyno meet? Toma's dyno, late May? Give me some feedback. Going to need XR7 Dave to program the EEC after the runs.

Big Cat Davo

Tom, by April the only additions I suspect will be underdrive pullies and a rebuilt trac loc. At that time I will need to do a new baseline dyno run. In the May/June timeframe I hope to have ported heads, a new cam and a ported blower on the car. I am expecting quite a bit of OT this year when I get back to Canada. With any luck a double IC will be on the car in time for the cool weather in the fall.

Two seasons ago before I moved to Saudi Arabia I set the goal of running in the 14's, I missed it by less than a tenth of a second. This year the goal will be to hit 13's. I am sure I will miss it too, but it is good to have goals.

I've got a dyno day in the works as we speak. I've talked to a couple shops around and I'm thinking about using TecMotion as Matthew really knows his stuff and he's running a Mustang Dyno as well. This'll probably happen late May early June, unless you guys want to do it earlier.

May/June sounds bout right to me. Gives a little time for the roads to clear up a bit after the Victoria Day snow, lol!

How much would the run(s) cost?

$45 something for 4 runs with sensors...

Ryan,

Thanks for the tip, it worked great. I put 3 washers for each bolt which gave me about a 1/2" to tighten it down. Do you think that that is enough to hold it in place?
