Broken shift fork?

Quick story to go with the question.

Long open road, 4th to 3rd to 2nd... very hard, and put it in third with lots of noise and when i took it out of 3rd gear, i now have no 3rd or 4th gear.

Physically the shifter will go in the position of 3/4 but i think the shift fork is broken and not putting the trans into the gear. Help?

Same thing happened to me. I broke part of my shift fork and also the sleeve that the fork grabs onto on the input shaft. Messy, messy, messy... I bought a reman one w/ 1500mi and now its going strong.

I had a similair problem when the metal dowel pin fell out of where the fork meets the connecting rod. The shifter went into the positions, but no gear.

Oh, so if i have another trans with no synchros, i can just take the parts from that, slap everything back together once out and i should be good to go?
