That's is definitely a great location for the shootout. It really gives both coasts about the same distance. .... A little far for me, so I may bow the SC out. Hopefully I can fly in for the fun though. We'll see. .
But definitely a great job by the committee, that looks almost smack dab in the middle!

I'll be racing bracket class, bring all the ARs you want. You may be faster, but I guarantee I'm more consistant :p I'm also know to cut some .00 lights, just ask Scott, I've strapped a few people at the tree before. :D
Maybe I can help you out on that Dave, now I need to get those heads and cam from you by april and I should be ready. I'll be at this one since it will probably be the closest one for a while.

I know it's a bit early to plan anything, but anybody along these states going that want to drive down with other SC'ers? I'd hate to drive down and worry about breaking down by myself. I figure if you're going to break down, what better than having a bunch of other SC'ers to help get back on the road. Here's my idea...
Canada and Seattle guys can convoy down to me (Close to Portland).
Then we all convoy to California and crash for a few hours somewhere (I figure that's about 10-15 hours driving), and meet up with all the CA members somewhere. We then all convoy over to Arizona and meet up with the AZ & NM members. Then we all convoy over and grab all the TX members, cruise over 1 more state and we are there.
Maybe some other fellow members offer some sofa's or floors to crash on along the way like Darkside has? MannySC/TBird88??
If nobody wants to do this, I’ll at least fly down… gots to make this shooutout..

I know that caravaning is a blast! We caravaned to and from Nat's 2001 with about 8 SC'ers and one of us even lost a crank sensor on the way in the middle of nowhere. 1hr later we were back on track and moving. Something I'll remember for the rest of my life. :D
This event is going to kick some serious butt!

I doubt I'll be able to make this year's event. Hopefully next year I can afford to make the trip. I'm not sure I'd really want to push my SC on the strip to be honest. If something happened to the car and I had the unforseen expense of having to repair it, that would definitely hurt the bank account. Is it ok for SC owners to attend even if they don't race their car?

Ive got a great place to have the Dyno Compitition. Ive talked to the owner of a performance shop in OKC and he is going to host us on Saturday October 8th for the Dyno Compitition. He has room in his parking lot for about 200 cars. So I thought it would be kinda cool while were having the Dyno Comp that we could have a Barbque in his parking lot so everyone could check out each other's cars and shoot the ****. Let me know what you guys think.

yeah, I fired up MS Mappoint and it has a lat/long search thing. The directions on their website were pretty good so I could guess.
With all the GPS stuff out there these days it would be cool if people started including lat/long with their street address. Or maybe that's a little geeky.
Oh, and anyone going south through Kansas... When I was dragging the car down and back they hit me with extra per axle fees for the double axle trailer on them toll roads. And it wasn't pocket change. So bring plenty of cash for the tolls.

Mike, I just got a online quote from a semi-truck company that will ship from terminal to terminal for $875.00. Term-term is where I drop off my SC in Troutdale Oregon and pick her up in OK City. OK City is like 24 miles away from Norman. Problem is that the car shows up when it gets there. They estimate 3 weeks for delivery.
So maybe a freight train would be a better deal, both $$$ wise and time wise, for all you guys that don't want to drive for 3-4 days.
Jeremy_K
02-05-2005, 08:31 PM
Guys, just a warning about shipping companies. Don't use Economy Transport. I bought my SUV on ebay and had it shipped from NC to NM for $875. Very shady company. They dented the hood and the roof, did not have a bill of lading (mysteriously vanished), all of the vehicle paperwork vanished, and got downright rude with me when i filed a damage claim. This company is big trouble. They are based in TN. All of the others i got quotes from wanted $1200 or more. i shoulda known, ya get what you pay for!
Do your homework on these companies BBB complaints etc. I'd hate to see a nice SC get thrashed. :(

02-05-2005, 08:38 PM
Trains don't look to bad. I found a company called AutoLog (http://www.autolog.net/) but didn't try to get a quote. The numbers are not too bad in their examples, but with having then to fly down there it would be a logistics nightmare for me. And If I do things right this spring the car should enjoy the drive.
The company mentioned above has a terminal in Tulsa, which isn't too bad of a drive down there. So if you could drop it at a train terminal, then pick it up at a train terminal, you avoid some of the fear of them moving it on to a tractor/trailer, and you save as well. With their list of New york to LA of $695, I would think as long as you're east of the Rockies into Oklahoma it wouldn't be too bad.

Thanks Jeremy, but I've been thinking that there is no way I could let my SC out of my sight for 3 days, let alone 3 weeks.
edit...I think I am just going to drive her down. Maybe I'll get a prize for the longest SC driven down to the meet. A $100 Texaco gas gift card sounds good.. :D Worried about going through Denver in October though. I hear the roads can get pretty bad even that time of year..

Road trip! road trip!! roooaaad triiip!!! w00t! w0000t!! I want to see what that AR can do. On saturday night we go downtown where there are a couple hundred mustangs from the Mustang Club. There is me and davidz (the only SC's downtown in the history of Indy) we started our own club called "Whips da Mustang Club." It consists of us two and 3 f-bodies basically. Mustang guys get mad because they have spray to beat the old T-birds. If i had an AR, then that spray would only leave them behind by a car instead of infront by two. Anybody interested in joining our club? We are going to make decals. :D
Why couldnt you have done OK last year and Norwalk this year? Dams it!!!

I bought a trailer last year. It's a big relief not worrying about how I'm going to get the car home. Now I can trailer to where ever....pull it off the trailer and drive the crap out it for a few days then put it back on the trailer when I'm ready to go home.
I do miss the fun of high speed caravans with a pack of SCs, but don't miss the worrying.

Have or are we renting the track exclusively?
Is there a website with the details of the event compiled (I see there are a few threads scattered on the BBS).
Are pre-registrations being accepted? If so, what is the cost?
Who are the sponsors?
Will there be any exhibition vehicles?

In years past, I believe (correct me if I am wrong) there was 1 or more non MN12 vecicles permitted to race, though they were not part of the event (Andy's Lightning comes to mind). If, for example, one of the 10 second V6 mustang guys wanted to attend and run as an exhibition vehicle, would they be denied the opportunity to pay a fee and make a few passes?

The committee has determined that non-mn12 Ford vehicles will be allowed to run at the track. Whether or not they are allowed to participate in bracket racing is something under consideration. I depends partly on just how many people are interested in doing so.
Track fees are yet to be determined but will be reasonable.

We currently have no plans to barbeque at the track.
If someone wants to volunteer their services I'm all ears! :D
The track has concession available and our current plan is to make use of that service.

Are you Western state guys planning on caravaning across I-40? If so what day? There's a great diner here right off I-40 where the food is good and they even make you sammiches to go! After Albuquerque, it's about 7-8 hours down I-40. Let me know if you want to go together and on what day.

As a matter of fact we are. As the event gets closer, John Shelton, Mike D. and I will be deciding what our plans are. Mike and John will be riding together, last we spoke, they are planning to drive straight through. We intend on leaving sometime Weds. evening.

I really don't know at this time. I won't be leaving till Mandi gets off work (which means I may leave later than John and Mike) and I don't want to deal with more LA traffic than I have to. Personally, I would like to leave LA around 9pm like we did for Carlisle which theoretically puts me in your neck of the woods around 8am.

It will be nice to see you again too!
As far the Lentech, they make the best possible AOD, & they aren't responsible for Designing the trans. Thay are only trying to improve on something Ford never intended to see alot of power.

Thomas,
That sounds good to me. I can be in Salina by that time.
My new transmission is scheduled to ship out tomorrow. (8/22) So I should have it broken in by then.
Todd I am assuming you will go over to Lincoln and down from there. I plan to run accross I-70 with Jeremie and Max and ???
Tony
Yes!!
Tony, the tenative plan right now is to meet in Lincoln on Friday morning and leave by 9:30. We'll pick Doug up on the way down Highway 81, and then meet up with you guys in Salina KS. We should be in Salina around 12:30 - 1:00pm. That is just a tenative plan right now though. What do you guys think?

How do feel about leaving in the wee hours of the AM & watching the sun rise? A newer guy Daid Rowe from the Den area will be running with me, & I haven't heard from Jeramie, on if he got the time off from the new job.
Max or the other local guys, ???

Leaving early in the morning does not bother me. I usually leave at 4:00 AM when going to STL. I just cant drive late in the evening. Meeting in Limon or Goodland would be OK.
