DORMAN Balancer??

Tom, Judging by that hunk of metal on one side of that balancer it doesn't look like it's zero balanced for our internally balanced SC engines. I'm not aware of any source for SC hb's other than Ford or BHJ. John

That's a number for mid - 90s 3.8 NA Mustang, which also fits 96 - 97 3.8 NA Birds if I remember correctly.

89 - 93 SC --- E9SZ 6B321 C
94 - 95 SC --- F4SZ 6B321 A

Maybe I'll run down to Vatozone and pick one up to see if it's correct. If all else, I have to return it and get my money back.
 
So if I do this and it works, what's the easiest way to get the stock balancer off and the new one on? Don't want to have to remove anything I don't absolutly need to.
 
Wrong balancer

The Dorman balancer 594051 is for a N/A 3.8 engine.
It has a counter weight on the outer ring that if installed on our internally balanced SC motors would turn it into a paint shaker.
The outer ring of the SC balancer has a consistent thickness all around.The Autozone computer system (and web site) actually lists this for an SC motor. It is not the correct balancer.
I actually purchased this balancer at Autozone assuming that it was the right one.
After a little investigation I returned it.
Dorman doesn't make the correct balancer for the SC engine (that I know of).

I read that post about machining the N/A balancer....

I don't really see why it wouldn't work....

I PM'd him to see if it is still working good for him...

Anyone else want to bring that one back???
