95 v8 thunderbird it drives good till it gets warm then reverse wont work but all forward gears still do.

so putting a tranny in a car i paid $300 for and spending over a thousand for a good tranny is smart? i'm asking if it will work and what tranny will work. i know it might not be the smartest thing but its cheaper. or should i part the car out?

What I am saying is that AOD transmissions are not better than 4R70W transmissions. The 94/95 transmissions had alot of problems. The 96/97 transmissions weren't much better. Get a low mileage trans out of a 98-2002 3.8 mustang, swap what you have to to make it work and don't worry about it anymore. I bet if you try you can complete it that way for less than $1000
