i am considering rebuilding my 153K miled SC. I am going to replace head gaskets, piston rings, main and rod bearings. Can you take the oil pan off from underneath the car to rebuild it or do you have to take the motor out?

Thanks

Pull the engine. You really cant do a good job rebuilding an engine with the engine in the frame. My guess is that you will need to bore the block to get it to seal again. At least a hone job. Also a good time to at least do a timing chain, cam bearings, freeze plugs. You dont have to soup it up if you dont want to but it will really benifit you if you do a good.

If you have access to a lift, you can even just lift the chassis off the motor. It's all attached to a k-member that unbolts from the chassis.

It's better to pull it, and it's not all that difficult. I'm slowly getting my motor out with the main issue being the A/C compressor and lines.
