Have you checked to make sure the TV cable is still attached to the throttle linkage ?

The shifting is all handled by internal hydraulics and a balance between the govenor pressure and throttle valve (TV) pressure.. If the car moves forward, and the 1-2 shift happens, its not the TC. Check the fluid level, the fluid color/smell and the TV cable for smooth operation. If all checks out, it may be time to drain the fluid and take a peek inside the pan for clutch debris.
