Another 351W Rod and piston question....

Is the requirement for the shorter pistons due to keeping the compression ratio within spec, or is the piston physically too tall, or what???

Is there room to play with the height by .010 or so???

Thanks!

The piston will stick out the top of the block. You can machine the pistons down if there is enough material there. Machine work = expense.

The guy at the machines shop said about $100, but that may be low becasue he was considering all the other work he will be diong for me....

Re: 351 Rods

Be careful if you are running stock bore. The big ends of stock 351 Windsor rods need to be trimmed slightly to go down into the bores.

Not sure what you mean???

RE: Rods

Measure the diamater of your bore. Measure the overall width of the rod cap big end edge to edge diagonally. With stock bore they are almost the same - but may require some trimming on the edges of the rod big end to slip down inside the bore to assemble.
