Hey for any of you guys that have installed an engine with an automatic. The transmission is in the car and the engine is goin in this weekend. What is the best/easiest way to install the engine, mainly concerning the torque converter. Is it easier to install the torque converter to the engine/flexplate first and then drop in the engine, or is it easier to put the torque converter on the transmission shaft first, and then install the engine? I would greatly appreciate some advice.

Thanks,
Mark

It would be easier to install to transmission. Rotate convertor manually by hand to make sure it seats to input shaft. Should "clunk" when seated.

You MUST NOT bolt the torque converter to the flex plate first. You MUST spin it on to the input shaft first and leave it on the tranny. This will keep from having a pre-load on the front pump, which is not what you want.
