Flywheel?

How do you tell the differents between the auto and manuel flywheel on these cars?

Autos have a flex plate. It's a stamped steel plate about 1/8" thick with a starter ring gear welded around the outside. The torque converter bolts to this plate.

Manuals have a flywheel. It's a thick steel plate that the clutch rubs against and the pressure plate bolts to. It also has a starter ring gear welded around the outside and will have a pilot bearing to support the transmission input shaft. Not sure of the actuall thickness on an SC, but most are at least 1" thick and considerably heavier than a flex plate.

If you drop a flywheel (manual) on your foot you'll go to the hospital and if you drop a flex plate on your foot you'll need a bandaid.

nice
