I've got the intake off my car and am going to do all the usual porting to it but I noticed a couple big casting buldges and wondered it it was safe to remove them.

First one can be seen just inside the intake to the right side. Looks like a buldge comming out of the floor blocking the air to cyl #3.

The second buldge can be seen when looking into cyl #6. Looks to be blocking alot of air flow but is it safe to remove it?

Thanks in advance.

I saw that write up that Rich did and while it is very good it did not say anything about what I am asking here.

I know about the corner but if you look at his first picture then look at my first pricture you will see that mine has a lump comming out of the "floor" and his does not. Did he cut that bump off or did his not have it to start with? As for my second picture he never pointed out anything like I have in his how to.

Yeah, just look at where the metal is ground away, you can tell it's in the same spot. I haven't gotten around to doing mine yet, but I would feel safe cutting them down. Just my .02 :)

Jason, The answer is YES the bump in the floor was ground down. You cannot eliminate it but you can reduce it's size. It's hard to see the bump because I put the words "AIR FLOW CYL #3" over top of it. I may go back and redue the pic to allow easier viewing of that bump. CMRE did the bulk of the porting and milling. I did a little additional porting around the inlet. The intake works very well on the car and no problems with low end throttle response. I pulled the plugs after 20 miles and they were all perfect. Emissions test was very clean. CMRE uses a version of this intake on his Engines. My modifications were not as extensive as CMRE cuts open the intake, removes the triangle divider, and raises the bottom for even more intake volume. That intake does not fit stock hoods and thus is really race only if I remember correctly. If you follow the pics I have posted in the How-To you will be just fine.

Thanks for cleaing that up Rich. I'll grind on it a little so it will be smooth. I'm not looking for a race motor but I just want to clean things up while it's out of the car. I'll do the gasket match on the intake and heads then leave well enought alone.

It's not too hard. Would be easier if I had that tool that Rich show's in his write up. I'm just using a grinder one my dremil tool. Works good but can't cut very much at a time. Then again maybe that's a good thing. No big screwups.

Jason im doing the same exact things to my car right now also. How much power can we expect from this? :D

Not much. You guy's should spend your spare time dateing women instead of wasting your time on that obortion of an intake manifold some genius at Ford designed. That intake is only good for one thing and thats a door stop. :)

Yeah well i think im ok in the women department for now. I just simply cant afford to go out and by a brand new intake. Im getting the most out of what i got, thats all.

One can never have too many women, trust me it'll come in handy one day.
Where you gonna buy a new intake? I was'nt aware anyone sold new intakes for SC's. You could build your own though. :)

Well I can't gbuy an aftermarket intake and I can't build my own so I'm just going to polish a turd. Figured with the MP blower going on it might help a little.
