Okay, Here's a tough one...

Does anyone have an NOS underhood pad for an '89 SC? I need two. Oh, and the fasteners to hold them to the hood.

If there are any of these floating around out there, let me know what you want for them.

Thanks,

Car is actually at my parents, either good or bad, depending on mine or my wife's point of view. Talked to my father and the pad is in good shape, and he was able to remove it from the hood without breaking the fasteners. I need to get it and get you some pics and find out about shipping. He seems to think it maybe of the rather difficult side, as it didn't want to roll up for him, but he did really try to hard.

Please let me know. Remember, I'm looking for NOS. That means it's never been on a car (still in packaging).

Thanks,

Most of the Ford dealers have access to obsolete parts, there's a service that they use that's called "Parts Locator".

I don't believe you can get in without a password but the www for it is

http://oeconnection.com/PartsLocator/wizard.asp

Just hit yer local dealer up and if/when they say "no way" just ask/tell 'em to use the locator. If they don't subscribe, find another dealer that does.

Take the cowl panels for instance. They'll set you back approx $125 for the pair but that's NOS.

F1SZ63018A17A (driverside) and 16A (pass side)
Vintage Parts LLC in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin shows to have 40 drvr side & 58 pass side in stock.

I'll see if I can remember to check on a hood pad for ya through my local dealer today.

hope this helps,

'bird

ThanksDon't get me to lyin', I thought there were three generations of cowl panels (89-91,92-93,94-up) so go figure. I'm runnin' a lil late and gotta get to the shop but I'll double-check the app for the F1SZ panels.
I assume you want 'em for your '92, holla at me on the shop phone later or I'll try to respond here this evenin' along with the info on the hood pad.

Okay, found the late-model hood pad/liner/insulation but sorry...no ideas on the early. For those that want a late pad, the number is:

F4SZ16738A

It lists for 82.72

This dealer shows to have it in stock:

Suntrup Ford
St. Louis, MO

314-429-4455
800-325-1011

For the early pad, try quizzing your local dealer with the # 16738A. Put E9SZ or F0SZ, F1SZ, F2SZ, or F3SZ in front of the # and see if they can help.

good luck,

'bird

Thanks for the heads-up and the P/N's. Now I just have to find a Ford dealer in the San Antonio area that will look these up for me. I figured there had to be a locator of some sort, but just get a blank stare when I go to the dealer closest to my home. I'll check around town...

THANKS !!!

THANKS !!!Actually, there's 5 or 6 Ford dealers in this area but only 1 that has access to the oeconnection thing. The parts girl is super cool about helpin' me but I do my best to look for the group #'s (ie: 16738A) in the shop manual diagrams or parts lists and then call her. Then it's just a matter of her punchin' in the # and whatever is available somewhere comes up.

Others you might wanna ask around about...keep in mind that left/right/color can throw a wrench into things.

steering wheel: 3600
console top (auto?): 44D90
scuff plates (that cover the seat belt retractor): 13200
instrument cluster lense (Dan Newman maybe?): 10849
dome lamp lense (yours stained/toasted?): 13783
dash louvers (always seem to have a cracked spot): 19C893

hydraulic clutch line (hard to find a good used one): 7C522

sorry, don't have the VMM part # handy :(

Which SA dealership subscribes to the locator, and has the helpful parts girl? Let me know; it'll save me a lot of looking.

Thanks!
