can i just cut the bracket and remove the part on the water pump so i dont have to do alot of other work to change the pump
will it be ok?
or should i suck it up and do it

Many owners report no problems cutting/removing the plate. I have kept mine inplace, but I also own a pullley puller tool, so do what you wish... Autozone loans the pulley puller tool should you decide to go that route.

I'm not sure about cutting the bracket off, but like was said above once you remove the PS pulley the bracket can be removed and discarded.
