Randy,

I'm hoping to get David Dalke or Brian Herron to make a trip to St. Louis sometime soon to tune my DOHC XR7 and anyone else's cars. I was thinking that we could set something up at Steigmeier's again. I just need to get to spark some interest in this.

Randy & Rod , and anyone else...... Dave D. is doing tunes at the Midwest Bash on the weekend of June 25th... :p This will get you tuned and give you a chance to visit this part of the world. Click on the banner on the bottom of my sig and check it out..........Rich P.S. hope to see you and a lot of others here, so get hooked up with the hotel and Dave. D............Rich

Rich I plan to come up to Uniongrove,Wi. .But I don't know if I will
be able to drive that far, until the day of the race.Or even stay
after I get there.

Not being able
to get a tune has shut me down on any type testing of parts.
I about to give up,and thinking of taking the V-6 and computor
stuff out and go with a power unit that needs no chip. Why have
a car that sets around because of tuning issues. Its just like tits
on a bore, worthless. You can see em but they have no use.

Sorry about any parts but no tests no sales.I have offered to pay
to fly someone in,but my money is not good enough.I have give
parts out to be tested, but I have had no return response in
9 to 10 months on any numbers for the the parts. This chip crap
& health, weather has shut me down. I plan to try to go to the
St Louis WFC.But looks like I will not be there in my SC again.
Because of tuning.

THANKS RANDY

Rich,

I'd love to go to the Midwest Bash, but that is a long way to trailer my XR7. If I could drive it there, I'd definitely be interested in going, but it has to be tuned before I can start driving it. Hopefully, Randy and I can get someone to come to our area of the country to tune our cars.

Randy,

I am very sorry that I have held you up. I guess I didn't realize that I was causing such thorn in your side. Yes I have had your raised manifold in my possession since the shootout but it was my understanding that testing was not the reason that the production of these parts was terminated. Nonetheless I have failed completely in getting this product tested for you. The fact that Cleveland had record snowfall this winter and the fact that both of my cars have sat untouched (and in a snowbank most of the time) since the shootout is no excuse for not following up on my committments to you. Nonetheless those are the facts.

I guess I also didn't realize that you were in such dire need of a tune. You have asked me when I could come tune more than once, but I thought you were more or less waiting for the AR to arrive for tuning and I had planned to schedule my trip around that.

There should be no reason that the car wouldn't run ok with Brian's tune for you to drive it to WFC or even the Milwaulkee event with the current tune. I have indicated that as soon as the AR is done I will come to Ill. and tune the car for you regardless of whether or not anyone else wants any tuning at that time. This is not just an offer but a committment.

If you really need me to fly out NOW for a tune, then I will do it. I just didn't realize that it was that urgent as I thought the car was still waiting on parts. If that is not the case, and the car IS ready for tuning now and you want it done before the AR arrives, then we will make plans to get it done for you.

David

Dave I have bigger issues going on than just tuning as you know.
Your not a thorn in my side at all.I have more parts than one or
two that I need to tune for, that you know about.Your one of the
very very few SC people that I have met that I trust. As a matter
of fact,Your the only person that has not takin or tried to take
advantage of me.Your an od ball, your trustworthy. You must not
be from middle America. :)

I am just going to need to buy all the stuff to do tuning inhouse.
I have other parts to tune for for final testing.I am building for
more than one motor. But need to test on one motor. So some parts
would not be installed over a day or two at a time.If I could tune.

I do part swaps at a stage at a time for records I keep.I don't
think that I would even install another blower this year.As slow
as I am going on the M90 stuff. It looks to be the end of the year
for my new parts testing. That you don't know about.I don't know
if that A/R will be big enough for my planed new motor any way.
I think that I am not going to do your other motor I got from you.
I am not use to taking this long for real world part testing.Time
is money, and I have been spending money with no results.I don't
have the time or money to spend a year plus developing parts.
And I have some parts that are two years old now. This is no ones
fault but my own.I have been doing mod work long enough that I
should of known better.I didn't think it would be a problem for
me to get chips burnt.I have not bought the tools to tune.I am
not the sharpest knife when it comes to computers. Its just to
costly to try to develop parts because of tuning .And I do
know how buisy you are on your own project. When I started
I thought Brian H. would be around when I needed help with
part tuning.

I am afraid to buy any tuning tools. The companys that I have
looked at change owners and tools, more that a baby needs
a diaper change.

Thanks Randy

There's got to be someone from SCT in the area that could get Randy a chip and a basic tune to get idle and fuel/air so he can run up to a dyno for a more serious tune for peak power.

Tunes are going on all over the U.S right now as people in the upper midwest get their cars put back together.

I know Brian and Dave are some of the best for the SC, but any guy worth his salt should be able to get Randy at least runnable.

Randy, if it is any consolation to you we managed to tune Todd Jelle's car (CMSII motor) with the new SCT software such that it ran well at 1500 ft and also runs well at 3500 ft which is something that no other tuning effort so far has been able to do. This is just to say that I truely feel that the SCT package is worth the investment and will be the tool you are looking for. Hopefully we can get together and do a tuning session soon.

David

Randy's car runs, it just isn't tuned for his current mods as the chip that Brian made for him is currently outdated for his mods.

Julian, this isn't the place to discuss pricing (ya, I've been warned before), check here for details. SCT thread.

I have the car getting the hood painted now,Should have it back thursday.
I called www.andersonfordmotorsport.com 1-217-935-3048 in Clinton,Il.
About getting my car dynoed and tuned. They said they could not tune my chip or had one to burn to work with my car.And there stand alone would not work either. But the did have a 03 and 04 cobras for sales. So I am thinking
about shoving the bird off to the side. And look into buying a stang.I would
be able to get a tune for a cobra at many places. So I am going up there
and see what kind of deal I can get.

I have been working three years on this bird. There is just to much to
get this car tuned.I don't mined making parts and the other little quarps.
But I can't get a simple chip burn. I have rebuilt or upgraded every part except the rear pumpkin on this SC Thunderbird. Its got 96,000 miles on the body. The car had 94,000 when I purchase it.I have spent $25,000.00
$30,000.00.It is better than any brand new super coupe sold buy Ford.
The blower is brand new not a rebuilt.I have three blower for it.A stock
one,A new blower MPII with extra porting polished. And a polished
A/R blower.
Its time to move on and look for a different supercharged Ford. That is tunable.

Thanks Randy

I think they are just afraid to tune it..Its easy with a stang..Its a no brainer because all they really need to do is load in a program and go

Its really sad though noone wants to tune these cars..Except for teh obvious players around here

Randy,

Hopefully you will have a change of heart and get the car running right. I'm in a similar boat on the tuning thing.

These days, it's SCT or nothing. SCs are such a pain in the a$$ to tune very few people are willing to mess with them. Right now, Dave is the only I trust to tune mine. Too bad he lives so far away.

If you do decide to get rid of the SC, I would still like to buy the Cobra R hood.

David

Hey Randy!! I live in bloomington. I bought my 92 SC at an auction.. IT has an anderson Ford sticker on her. I assume it was bought new there. IT is a cool place but they can be dicks. I tried to buy a car there once and they really pissed me off.

I actually used to have a buddy that did tunning... Took all of his epuipment and moved to the west coast so that is not going to help you.....

I hat to see you get rid of your SC. I bought mine cheap thinking I would sell it for profit now I dont think I could part with it!!!!

Drop me a line if you want I do make it to your part of IL sometimes!!

Paul
I am not going to get rid of this SC.I just feel bad that its not tunable
within a reasonable amount of time.I am not one of those people that
build a vehichle to look at.I am not going to do a motor build up as
planed, because of tuning .Plus I want power well over 450 rwhp
that is realiable.I beleive now with all the parts on,and tuned.
It would be around or over 300rwhp ,with no head or cam change.

Kinda a laim reason. But I have not bought all the needed tuning tools.
Because I don't want to buy a windows os type lap top. And I
don't want to spend the time for the learning curve for tuning.
This take away time from my small area that I am best at.I am
use to getting together with others as a team to swap parts,
wrench,& tuning skills.I don't have the brain space
to be a do all, know all. And I am to lazy to try to learn it all
even if I could anyway..

David N. The hood is being painted now I hope it is finished today.
I made some polished aluminum peices for the hood shocks that
hold the hood up.I hope to try final fitment Friday. And deside to
paint or leave polished.I made a couple extra brackes. If they work
turn out & look good,I can let you have the extra pair. You will need
this part when using a Cobra R hood. The hood shock ball joints
broke off on the first day during adjustments. They broke from
the high pressure of the shocks while closed, not during closing.
I have some polished aluminum hood hinges I fabed also.
If I would sell the hood,It includes glass doors,& fiberglass trunk lid,
Cobra rear wing, Cobra R front bumper cover,.I have been
assembaling a complete Cobra R body kit for the mn12.
not just a store bought hood.Still working on building the
carbon fiber tail light pannle, with early style tail lights.I would not
seperate the body kit parts.$4000.00, black paint included.
This does not include any of my work on the parts. The rear
wing's looks, are kinda hard to swollow.I plan to have the
trunk functional with hinges. The key lock has been shaved
It will open wth the electric button.

I was saving all the glass/carbon parts to install, except hood when
I install a better motor with K-Member.I have not added up the exact
Weight savings. But it should be 200 to 250 lbs.

I have installed the hood because I am close to testing the next
stage on some intake parts that I havent talked about. My next
intake mods,I plan to be using and have worn out before they
are copied. And they will support a low 10second SC. Its nice that
some are making my parts. But they should ask, so i could help
them do the job right.I hate seeing all the flow mistakes being done.
There is more to it,than just making a good look-a-like part on the
outside.

Thanks Randy

Anderson is expensive for dyno time too. Randy, you may want to look into FC Customs here in Springfield. They charge $50 for 3 pulls with a wideband O2 sensor. They only dyno on Wednesdays and you need an appointment though. They do have some tuning capability (I think Diablo), and I am POSITIVE that they will say, "Yeah, we can tune it"....but I would be skeptical that they can REALLY do any tuning.

IS there a reason why you can't just slap some 50lb injectors and C&L MAF in? My chip from Brian has failed or for some reason glitches out constantly now...so I removed it. The car runs fine. From here out I think I'll go the injector and C&L route. Besides, you get tuned and then change one piece and your tune is now off.

So I'm going to WFC...with no chip, no tune, a little lean, but whatever. You should limp your SC down there so we can see all your hard work.

Micah

My thoughts on remote tuning....

Get a LM-1 wideband O2 and Aux input. Plug it into the RPM, MAF and TP sensors. Log a couple runs in 3rd or 4th at 0 PSI, 5 PSI and WOT. Mail LM-1 to Dave with details of each run in the LM-1. Should be pretty easy to get it right from there.

Without a wideband and some data logging, it's shooting in the dark. Trust me... been there done that blown it up. :) :p
