car has cancer!!!!!!!!!

my car has some bad rust on the under body. do you guys think i should replace the floor if the make replacement floors for are cars and i can wire wheel and paint the rest? or get the car painted drive it for a bit part it out or sell it and get a new better one? the rest of the car is mint int. ,engine,trans, all of that good stuff.

I've got the same problem on mine, can't tell till you crawl under it. Damn Michigan cars. I'm going to paint it and fix it up, I like it and its a nice car. So I'm gonna keep it. Maybe next year I'll weld in some new metal rocker panels or patch them holes with new metal and repaint the underside.

that is what i was thinking of doing

thats my idea. I do sheet metal work so i have all of the tools and materials i just have to find time. the only thing is that ill have to get it painted or something or else its gona rust in 2 seconds here in chicago.

yes but i dont have none of that but my school auto shop has a welder they may be able to help me do the make peices that you can but for the car like the floor and all that and my car is rusted pretty bad i am get my new front end soon but the old fenders i took off the bottom of them where gone do to rust!!! :eek:

All I have to say is I am glad my 35th is a VA car because even with 196K on her she is rust free from top to bottom!

Check out my new for thead in the for sale forum, i just recently bought 2 cars and have tons of parts that imwilling to let go of cheap,and 2 whole frames, that im sure i could give ya,lol

well try your school first then since its much cheaper than a body shop (even though body shops come to us to do it for them) The floor is IMO a lot easier to do than anything else just take the seats out, peel the carpet back, and start cutting the rusted spot out wiht a sawzall. After the rust peice is taken out have the someone at the school shop make u a peice to fit there. Ive done this a few times becasue the body shop near me cant. I used a peice of 24 gague which is thin and i didnt think it would work but the more bends that u put in it the better. but yea have them make a peice and put it in for u. Just make sure there are no holes or they missed anything. And what of the old fenders do u mean has rusted?

the bottom of the fenders where to two bolts bolt to the car it rusted away there was a gap between the screw in part and the fender do to rust. and do you have to treat the metal in any way be for doin this?

In the work that we do the only thing we have in our shop is cold rolled steel, so after installing the replacement metal, painting it would be a good thing to do. The metal we use has no "treatment" so basically it will rust on one rainy day. and if u have a metal shop or something in ur school thats probally whut they use.
