A/C compressors 8 RIB vs 6 RIB Pulley

Your 8 rib pulley is the same depth as a 6 ribbed pulley. The clutches are the same for both 6 and 8 rib pulleys.

The one on the left is from a 1990 Cougar LS N/A V6. The one on the right is from a 1990 SC. They have the exact same Clutch, Ford part # E9SH-19D786-AA. That clutch is a 16 spline, but the pulley goes on the case snout so the spline count of the clutch is irrelevant to how the pulley mounts. The pulley bearing rides on the case snout and the load from the belt is transferred into the case. The clutch attaches to the compressor shaft via a spline and bolt. I don't see a problem of using our 8 rib pulley on newer compressors. You will just have to use the clutch for that compressor if it's a 21 spline along with our 8 rib pulley.
