Rear View Mirrors

So, my 89 SC didnt have a rear view mirror when i bought it, but i believe it had one of the auto-dimming headlight mirrors, but i have recently acquired a cool electrochromatic one...

The multifunction switch will flash the brights if i pull it towards me, but if i push it outwards to turn on the brights, nothing happens (although a light goes on in the middle of the 2 dials that i believe are for the auto-dimming rear view mirror), so i think that the multifunction switch is functional. Is there an easy way to bypass that whole thing and just have regular manual brights?

If you turn the auto-lamps thumbwheel (one of the two dials) all the way down to the off position, then you will have manual headlights.
