oil dipstick

i took the oil dipstick out to be able to put the mid lenght headers on. well
the problem is it doesn't want to go back in all the way. i looks like there is a half inch left to go back in but it dont want to go back in all the way. is there something special to do that im missing or just bad luck?

I took a 1/2 x 2' piece of hard copper tube, hammered one end flat, and then hammered it into a "V". Take the V end place on the dip stick tube lip near the block, hit the other end of the copper tube with a hammer until the tube seats on the block. It will work.
