 Aargh! I just took our Jeep to my regular oil change place and they topped off my coolant with dex-cool. I asked the technician if they had the proper coolant and she said yes and I trusted her and they topped off my coolant tank with it. The original coolant and dexcool are both orange. When I got home I checked on the internet and low and behold dexcool is a OAT (~~~?) coolant while Mopar uses a HOAT coolant. One reputable website I found says the 2 cannot be mixed.

Does anyoe know if I should have them flush and refill the coolant or should I be okay like it is? why cant they just use the green coolant like in my SC, makes things much easier!

Thanks for any help you'll can give!

PS- I did post this on the Jeep club forum but those guys do not seem all that friendly or happy to share knowledge like we are here, this club does seem to be one of the special ones.

The problem is not just with mixing OAT with HOAT but mixing different brands of HOAT. The same goes for engine oil - I wouldn't mix two brands of 5W30. The same with wheel bearing grease - two brands may be perfectly suitable for your car, but when you mix the two, the grease may liquify within a few miles.
Sometimes the combinations work and sometimes they don't.
I would show the oil change place the article that you referred to and ask them to flush and refill with whatever coolant the manual specifies.
