What kind of aftermarket intakes do they make for sc

No companies (Edelbrock, etc) make anything for our applications. However, there's several on the boards here at the SCCoA that have dabbled in different styles/approaches to modifyin' the stock intake. If you have the time and tools, port-matching to the heads is a very good idea or you can go a step further. Actually, any step with these cars is a big one LOL!

Lately, there's been a revival of a style that Chris Wise made famous. He opened up the inlet of the lower intake and got great results but certain mods are needed to fit it to the engine. Fuel regulator sits in the way just a lil bit and needs to be tweaked to the rear to clear the enlarged plenum that goes along with the deal.

Here's an under-construction pic of one I did for someone in Canada, got another one almost complete that might be headed to Jersey this weekend.

Welcome to the SCCOA, hope this helped

Hate to revive an old thread but, I was doing some checking and found that the stock opening on that inlet is only 2 1/4". Do you open that up as well for them Wynn? If not, why? If so, how far? Would it not be phesable to just use a 2 1/2" or 3" pipe and make it fit and weld the bypass tube to it?

Every return plenum I've ever seen has a 2.5" ID, the entire IC system is based on 2.5" ID, maybe the SC's up north got short changed LOL! As far as changin' that particular fitting to 3", it can be done.

Maybe I read the caliper wrong. I get going fast and do that at times. Your work looks good as always Wynn.

Here is some pictures of three stages of modified manifold & plenums
The shapes have been flow tested.Other copies have not been that
I know of.and track proven.

The first picture is a compairison to a stock one to perfomance tech
Stage I manifold plenum.plenum bore can be done up to 2.600.
The stock bore clean up 2.500will take .2 tenth off your 1/4 mile time,
jus by bolting on.more for the 2.600.No one will even notice this
mod ,except hard core SC people. It looks stock when painted gray.

The second picture is a Stage II manifold-plenum mod.Manifold
-plenum is modified and wet flow tested to insure a balance flow
over stock.

The third picture is a side by side compairison of a stock manifold-plenum
to a performance tech Stage I .That has been doing mods and flow work
for over 35 years.

The fourth pictue is a side by side compairison of the stock
manifold opening to the STAGE I , II manifold.

The fifth picture is a Stage III PLENUM with RAISED MANIFOLD.
With plenum Set up for a A/R blower. The m90 bolts on the STAGE III
also. The plenum IC opening is 2.800.Inside plenum has been inlarged
and shape changed to out flow any plenum ever made todate.

The stage three manifold shape is changed inside. And wet flow tetsed
to give a balanced flow to all cylinders.Stock manifold is not balanced
for even air flow to all cylinders.Performance tech is the only one that do's this,to my knowlage.

The inside shape change and port work has been done to all three Stages.

The inside of the manifold and plenums are welded inside and out.
not just one side.

CMRE makes a raised manifold,no plenum mods. And no port work.

You can see what t-bird 88 do's on his mods. And would be your best a
& most likley the only hope you would have to be able to buy one this year.
you would need to ask him this.

Performance tech is not taking any orders for
manifold & plenum mods this year.We are booked until
after next july of 2006.This is because hands down they are
the best and first complete manifold-plenum mod to be
offered to the SCers. In three different stages, for the
M90, MPII and A/R blowers.

This is the best and the only balanced flowing manifold
and plenums to be offered by way of wet flow testing.
And will broaden your rpm range.Performance tech
stage I , II ,III will out flow you stock m90 blower and IC system.

The performance tech manifold and plenums can be
purchased though XR7DAVE, SUPERCOUPE UNLIMITED
for the A/R blower and M90 to MPII blowers.

Or get ahold of T-BIRD 88 if you want yours moded sooner.
you'all just have to ask him.He do's some very nice work on
his mods he performs.

Thanks RANDY

Is this Performance tech you randy? If so, do you have a site? What about prices? I do not need the last manifold yet but in about two years I think I will. That will make the nice addition to the AR that I dont have yet.

Next off, what is this wet flow testing. If you dont want to explain it becuase it is complicated then can you shoot me a site?

These are scratching the surface of a dream come true. I think this stage two manifold would work well on a street car with a 94+ blower, cam, gears, and exhaust work. Anything less then that and it looks like the stage one would be fine.

Thanks Randy

I can TIG weld. I just dont have the welder, or the time, or the place,, or...the high quality aluminum that it requires to keep the weld from splittin. That was one of the few things I was glad I learned in High School...I can weld up the crack of your @$$ if you could stand the heat :p .

Chris

Damon you don.t even know how much I charge.
I don't charge as much that has been listed.
I list higher prices to discourage people that
want to buy my parts. This cuts out the whinners
and finger stappers,

Anyone besides me think this new guy was reffering to air intakes rather than intake manifolds? Most people when they say "intake" mean pre-throttlebody. Now had he said intake manifold then I would be certain he was asking about the manifold itself. I think he means what kind of cold air or fresh air intakes are available for the SC.

So he got A 101 in the more important part on the intake manifold
system, that no one talks or knows much about. And he now knows he can
get ahold of wynn when he want to do the part that counts.

slappinpavement you can go to the parts for sale forum on this board.
And maybe find some nice used intake parts.

But beware I have been shorted and ripped off on parts, while buying
from the parts for sale forum. Its to bad ,but we do have dishonest people
lurking on the for-sale section.But most all a good people,Its just I
have not bought from the good ones.

good luck Randy
