I did a little searching but didn't find any specifics.

Anyway, a friend of mine has a "95 with a 4.6 and wants to install a 5 speed. I have a tremec 3650 from an '01 Bullitt. I know the 3650 will bolt up to just about any 4.6 or 5.4 that's newer than '01, but what about the older modulars? I also have the stock 6 bolt, 164 tooth flywheel, clutch and preasure plate.

Is the swap possible?

Tahnks alot for any info.

Mike, he said the car is a 95 with a 4.6, not an SC. :)

The modular motors all have the same bellhousing pattern, except for the 91 Town Car, and early 92 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and Town Car, that still used the old AOD trans with a 5.0 style pattern.

So the Tremec from the 01 would bolt up to the 95 4.6, but the main issue will be getting the shifter through the hole in the floor. I believe some sort of extension on the shifter housing, to move it rearward, will be needed. Maybe try a search on the forums at www.tccoa.com ... there are more 4.6 people over there. I know at least a few of them have swapped in T-45 tranmissions, not sure if anyone has done a TR-3650 or not.

cheers
Ed N.
