In case you didn't notice this...
Sean's SC is up for grabs (http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64707)
We've already had discussions on these forums about why I considered selling the SC and moving on to other things. I'd prefer not to rehash them here again now.
Suffice it to say, this has not been an easy decision to make, but I've finally made it. I'm sure this will surprise you, but my wife had very little if anything to do with the decision in the end. The family, in general, was a big factor.
I don't intend to disappear around here when the car is gone, although I probably won't be around nearly as much as I have been. I've made some great friendships with people here over the years, and I don't think I could walk away from them if I wanted to. I'll probably still be out to some of the meets, albeit in a different set of wheels.
I contacted one person in our club via email late last night to give them the opportunity to buy the car and the slew of parts, and in spite of my post, if this person is interested I will still give them first dibs. Otherwise, it's out there on the Cars For Sale forum now, and I'll probably be putting an add in Autotrader for next week.
Yours truly,
Sean

Good luck with the sale of your car, someone is going to get a real beauty! :) I know there was a quite a few times I wanted to get rid of my car in the past but now I can't even think about that anymore(it owes me too much!)
Best of luck!

I think there's a couple of people who have spent a little bit too much time in the sun lately. Just park it and forget about it for a while. I think you'll regret it someday. I could've restored the mustang with the money into the bird this time. But hey it will be there for another day. Just something to ponder.

It's too bad you just cant put it on hold for a couple of years there Sean and just drive it occasionally to the odd meeting or 2.

I'm sure she'll go to a good home.... :)

Guys,
Thanks for all the kind words. I'm not dying though, I'm just selling the SC. :D Like I said, I'll still be around here to keep in touch.
Well, there have been some inquiries from within our community in the SCCoA, but for the most part it seems that people are only interested in looking at SC's under $2,500.00. It seems that people are less concerned about buying something that's half-beaten to death and rotting away, than getting an SC that if they simply maintain it will look great for years to come. There have been a number of compliments on the car, but thus far no one has the money to step up and take it over.
I guess I'll have to put it in the Trader and see what happens.
It's sad to think that I could get more money out of this thing parting it out completely than people are willing to pay for the whole car. Oh well... That just confirms for me that it's time for me to get what I can out of it and find better things to invest in. I hope this will be a lesson to all of you not to go and blow big money on your SC's if you ever have intentions of selling the car later. Yesterday shed some new light for me on just how much of a money pit my SC really has been.
Regards,
Sean

Its unfortunate that things are that way at this time.... I was talking to my brother-in-law who's been in the car business for a few years now and he's believes the SC's time is coming. The usual trend is for cars rare like this is to bottom out, guys scooping em up and killing them just as fast just to have something "nice", parting them out even if all it needs is new head gaskets to make a quick buck and moving on. He figures in another 5 years or so, SC's that are still in good shape will start going up in value because they'll be even more rare and the "kiddies" can no longer afford them....... heck some of them can't even afford to keep gas in them anymore and are trying to disable things to get better gas mileage for crying out loud.
But the guys have a point Sean, hang on to her and only drive it around on sunny days, but stay away from modding her for awhile. Heck if you need the space, in a month or so I'll have my barn fixed up and you can store her there for awhile, no charge..... heck if you don't mind her outside you can bring her over now and put a cover on her, my drive-way can hold 8 of these cars and still have room to maneouver.
You've go alot of blood sweat, tears, heart and moola in her, and in this day-n-age it will be VERY hard to get it back. Also, I think we all know that when that car leaves, you are going to miss her real bad for a long time.
If your just getting rid of the car to get some of your investment back, then your getting rid of a beautiful car for the wrong reason......

Sean, you've been a great guy to me with all the help and advice and although we've only spoke on the phone a couple times, you're definite asset to the SC community.
Life goes on.....I was hard for me to sell my SC. But, after getting in the Mustang and taking that first rip down the track, it made all the pain go away :)
Cheers!

Hey Sean,
Your car is the cleanest SC I have ever seen, and I'm sure it will sell quick..
I am actually considering selling mine this year as well...it gets expensive insuring two cars, and paying for maintenance on both as well....
Take Care.

Most of us will move on to something else eventually. It's just a matter of time. Those who remain are what we call collectors. :D
Sean, you've been a real asset to the SC community and your participation and leadership will be missed. I'm glad fate brought you to our little corner of the auto world... The good memories will last a lifetime.
I can also understand your decision to sell. You don't exactly have a huge garage there. After all is said and done, it's only a car (blasphemy, I know  ).
I'm curious as to why you decided "at this particular time" to sell it all though (?). Most recently you:
- Won 1st place at Carlisle
- Purchased a brand new cam and all the necessary parts for the swap (yet to be installed)
- Worked with XR7Dave on getting it tuned correctly
...not to mention the fact that you "finally" got your SC where you want it:
- Beautiful paint/body work
- Nicely worked motor & drivetrain
- Cobra rims
- Completely upgraded suspension & brake system
- Killer sound system
- Upgraded interior
Personally I think you spent too much time modding and not enough time enjoying what you have, but hey, that's just me ;)
It's sad to think that I could get more money out of this thing parting it out completely than people are willing to pay for the whole car. Oh well... All cars are "money pits". They are NOT investments unless you plan on keeping it a LONG time and in relatively stock condition. People "blow big money" on lots of things (where recovered value is never realized), not just cars.
It all comes down to what is considered of "value" to us. We all spend money for things which we know will not be worth "what we paid" later on down the road, but has great value to us personally.
Sean, I'm afraid the only way for you to recover monies spent on your SC is to convert it back to "near stock" condition, sell off all the go-fast goodies, and seek out buyers for the car that are interested in it's fantastic condition. Take a page out of Wayne's book on this... he got it right. It's more work, but you stand to recover far more cash this way.
Good luck with whatever the future holds for you, and many thanks for all the help you've given me over the years.

Paul,
Thanks for calling this evening. It was good talking to you!
Here's some pics I took shortly before Paul called. I'm trying to figure out which one I'm going to post in the Autotrader. Any suggestions?

The last picture Sean, but personally I would say none, I know its somewhat far fetched but these cars may be worth something one day and to have one in as good as condition as yours will be hard to come by, even for a low km brand new SC find, I bet yours rides and is more enjoyable ride then a new one, even minus the power upgrades.

Hey Sean,
I'm sorry to hear that you have decided to sell the SC and move on, man does she look mint. IF I had the money (like most of wish we did) I would snap your SC up in a heart beat, but as the old saying goes "All Good Things Must Come To An End" and the whole lot of us will miss you dearly. I've always enjoyed reading what you've had to say and thanks for all the tips and advice you have also given me, my one gripe is I feel bad to have not made it out to one of the meets to meet you in person. I admired the way you carried out yourself in the SC community Sean, which is TOP NOTCH! Take care Sean and we hope to see you drop in from time to time.
Sincerley,
Luke Jones
