does anyone have torque specs handy? i cant find mine and am putting the top end back together this weekend.
i need the specs for the head bolts, exhaust manifold bolts, and the rocker bolts, as well as anything else that needs to be torqued properly.

thanks

Josh, do you by any chance have a fax # or you can pm me your e-mail address and I'll scan the pages and send it to you. Somewhat complicated to explain, the head bolts (according to the Haynes manual) have to go in a certain order thightend, loosend and thightend again.

The heads and the intake manifold have specific torqueing sequences. Also, how much the head gets torqued down on each step etc depends if your using brand new torque to yield bolts (same as the originals) or arp studs.

If using TTY bolts, then you have to loosen them up after the first torque down sequence, then go through the steps again. The arp studs do not require this and their final torque is around 75 ft lbs IF you use arp's molly lube.

When doing the intake manifold, (I finished with 20 ft lbs cause the 11 didn't seem high enough to me) I waited 10 minutes then retorqued at 20 again.... it actually took 8 times to do this before all the bolts stayed at 20 ft lbs and I did it again for good luck. When I rechecked the torque the first time it was almost like all the bolts had loosend off to 2 ft lbs in the first 10 minutes.

Anywho... good luck

Frit
