Failed the Smog With Flying COLORS!

Damn, I failed the smog. I knew it would happen. Damn This Car! DAMN it to hell. This car is worst then a gold digging girlfriend. Oh well have 10 days to make it pass or my 50 bucks goes to waste.

I just failed the NO (PPM)

15 MPH
MAX = 748
AVE = 237
MEAS = 1128 FAIL


25 MPH
MAX = 687
AVE = 199
MEAS = 1026 FAIL[/B
 
2 bottles of methynol hydrate (gasoline anti-freeze) and let the car warm up, pull the octane plug and your good for a pass
 
i tried pulling the octane plug. it made the check engine light come on at stop lights. it would just turn on and when i kept going it would go off. I know u automatically fail if the CEL comes on. So i didnt want to risk it

You could take the blower belt off just for the test or would they fail it for that?
 
I cut my NOX in half by running half a can of Seafoam through a vacuum port, a can of octane boost in the tank and pulled the octane plug. You may want to try the first 2.

Agree. Give the Seafoam a try. It cleans out carbon build up which was the cause of my high NOX last year. :cool:
 
i dont think its possible to get the seafoam from the ocean into my car... should i drive it onto the beach... lol.... i already passed it... the smog tech pulled both octane plugs and it passed with flying colors..
 
I know this sounds stupid but I had an escort one time that I could not get rid of the CEL without atleast taking the dash apart and pulling the bulb or something. I took a picture of my son and taped it over the CEL. Most of the employees are young kids. They never noticed. I dont know where you live but if your smog tests are like Marylands. You have to boldly tell them to not run the snot out of your car before taking the test. Goodluck
 
Yes.. you normally have to scoop it up a bit at a time and put it in a bucket and then sift out all the seaweed. :rolleyes:

Anyways, the 2 plugs you pulled are the octane plug (for when you have to run 87 in a pinch) and the spout shorting plug. The octane plug is a sort of adjustment.. the spout plug is pretty much a cheat and it will light the CEL.. The effect of both of those is to retard timing, but you also won't get as good of mileage or power.

It doesn't hurt to run the seafoam from the parts store through even though you (cough) passed (cough) the test. :cool:
 
yeah but were do i get the seafoam? i never seen it. i tried looking it up but all i get it is directions to the beach
