whats it do is there a benefit to turning it off if thats possible where is the sensor incase it goes bad. thanks in advance guys

I don't know about your 1st question, but it's directly in front of the starter on the passenger side of the engine. And, a new one costs around $30 at any auto parts store. They will probably have to order it. Take care.

Probably not a good idea

It is my understanding the knock sensor provides feedback to the EEC that you are experiencing detonation. When it provides this feedback, the EEC reduces the timing advance to eliminate/reduce the detonation. If it did not, you would run the chance of damaging your engine or at the very least causing deteriation of your head gaskets ... this will eventually cause you to blow them...

The sensor is there for a purpose...you need to fix it
