This is wierd and I have no idea whats wrong but occasionaly , when I turn the key, the car starts an auto EEC self test..

What could possibly be the problem?

Is the EEC bad or is some kind of short..?

I know where the self test harness is and it looks fine and the wires are wrapped in wire loom so I have not a clue whats wrong.

check engine light flashes three times then revs to 2000RPM and holds it there until I start to drive in which it'll stop and the rpms drop and causes a little bucking action.

It doesnt happen all the time... just occasionally.

Check the wiring at the EEC self test connector, maybe a couple wires are rubbing together or grounding on the body?

Just a thought

hey.....my 90SC makes a honking sound when I turn it off.......what the heck is that? , and my 89SC does the "reving to 2000 rpm thing" when I start it sometimes. I thought it reved due to a bad sensor or something.

I had this happen also and turned out to be the wires that run along the passenger side motor mount. I routed them wrong and one wire was getting pinched and grounding causing the CPU to go into self test.
