A buddy of mine who works on cars is doing my motor mounts for me. I asked him what the hold up was and he said he didn't have a special tool to undo the subframe. What tool is he talkin about?

thanks,

Socket

Its a E18 torx socket, I just bought one from Sears, but many jobbers and places that sell tools will have or be able to get for you.

thanks for the reply!!

But why the heck is he dropping the subframe to replace the motor mounts? That isn't necessary at all.

If the car is on a lift, supposedly you can do the work completely from underneath by dropping the subframe.

Rod, believe it or not, it makes things much easier. I know of one mechanic in particular that can do both sides in an hour this way.
