I've got a 1990 SC XR7 and was wondering if it has a 8" or 9" posi rearend. Any way to find out, besides burning rubber :D ????

Thank you,

Neither

Your rearend is an 8.8" Trac-Loc. If the car has a 5-spd, you have 2.73 gears. Auto's had 3.27 gears. "Posi" is a GM clutch type limited slip differential.

The 8" or 9" rear ends are what Ford used back in the 60's & 70's.

Thanks for the info 68COUGAR! I've got another ? and that is: Should or can I do a rearend and suspension swap on a '73 mustang with a 3sp trans and a 289 eng.??? Any other parts worth salvaging for the stang restore? Is it possible to put the SC v6, auto trans, and rear end on my mustang?

Thanks again,
DJ
