Can a vacuum pump add horsepower.

Hey,

I was reading a issue of MM & FF and it shows that they added a vacuum pump to a aftermarket supercharged mustang. The vacuum pump was there to reduce oil consumption and pressurizing the crankcase and that it greatly reduced windage and i dont know what else and that they gained 15-20 HORSES by adding a vacuum pump. I mean if this is the case maybe we can add one to ours and gain a lil more UMPH. out of our birds?

Yes it can add to the power of a motor.I have done it ,by
pulling a 7lb vac under the pistons.Makes the motor turn
on faster.

Multi stage dry sump oil systems do's the same. You set up
some stages to pull oil from the pan.And another stage to
pull a vacunm in the bottom end.

Your motor will turn on faster because the pistons do not
have to fight crankcase pressures on there down stroke.
