Ok, the engine is ready to come out of car. Spent most of the day tearing the engine apart. It is down to the heads. This car was a mess. There were wires all over the place. I have found all kinds of "special engineering"(we'll leave it at that) with this car. It never ceases to amaze me how someone car **** up a perfectly good car. Oh well, it will be as good as new when I am done. ;)

Like this "special engineering", the neg batt termnal failed and the previous owner decided to make his own ground wires!

Or this special wiring harness found under rear seat...........

Looks like you are making good progress on the car!
You have gotta love that "special engineering" some people do. They are the same people that don't carry fire extinguishers in the car to put out the "special engineering" fires  I am one that doesn't like to cut into the factory wiring at all. There are 4 things on a vehicle where you better know what you're doing... steering, fuel systems, brake systems, and electrical systems. I've seen more than a few vehicle fires on the side of the highway and many could have been caused by faulty wiring.

OK, got alot done the last two days as I need a car to drive. I found the 35th had a hole in the oil pan because the motor mounts were bad. So the engine had to come out. I got a new oil pan, and got the new trans out of the 89 and installed it in the 35th. There was no sense when I do not know the shape and condition of the one that was in it. So I removed 2 transmissions, 2 engines, and re-installed 1 rebuilt engine from scratch and one new trans in the 35th. I am tired.....I am close to having the 35th running..hopefully by Tuesday. Here are some pics:
