Transmission question, please answer...

I installed a stacked plate transmission cooler on my '94 SC a week ago. Since installation the tranny doesn't shift as hard. During normal driving the tranny would shift very firm, and during WOT it would bark the tires when hitting 2nd. Now it does niether. The shift still feels "a little firm", but nowhere like it was a week ago, just before the cooler installation. I added about .5 quart of fluid after installation to replace what I lost from the open line and the extra fluid the cooler needed. The fluid level seems to be just right.

Can anyone tell me why this would happen?

Thanks much

Any sharp bends in the new hoses to the cooler? I'm guessing that this will affect the fluid pressure, causing the shift points to change.

I double checked and there are no sharp bends in the new hoses.

Also, how much better are the stacked plate coolers than the standard coolers? Are they worth $20 more or do they have the same abilities? I've already bought the stacked plate design and installed it, but I was just curious.

Thanks.
