Hey Gang
I'm an SC newbie who needs a new tranny. I've asked around and a new Tranny installed is going from $850 installed by a Ford Mech. who does work on the side all the way to the dealer who will do it for around $1,800 to another local Mech. that will do it for $2,300.

So I want to know how hard it would be to do it myself ? -
If I buy a tranny from a reputable parts dealer... can I do it myself ?
Also, does anybody... ANYBODY have a PDF. or book or something with the "how to" of putting in the tranny.

I really want to keep this car and enjoy it like most of you guys but the tranny needs to get fixed. If you have any suggestions, please reply or email me directly with directions on HOW TO... I'm in Northern California.

Yo can do it yourself if you have some patience.

A little intimidating at first, but I've done two AODs, and both ended up OK, well really 3, but that first one didn't count

Make sure you use some COLD vaseline on the seals, sothat they stay in place! And of coruse make sure everything is clean upon assembly!

Myself and two other guys did mine (Thomas A and kenewagner) and atleast one of us was charting new territory :D It's time consuming, but I wouldn't say overly difficult.
