I would try drilling the bolt and using an easy out. The bolt is hardened though and it isn't going to be easy. If you try and weld on it you could affect the hardening of the crank as well as take the chance of making the bolt unremoveable due to the heat. As far as getting the rest of the balancer off I can't really advise you since I don't know how much of the hub is left on the shaft. You are going to need a new front seal for sure. You may even have to pull the front cover off the motor to get to the remains. It is keyed onto the shaft. I would suggest you get a BHJ replacement damper and stay away from the OEM damper. This is a really common problem and if you do a board search I am sure you will find other threads that might help better than I can.

its easy to get the hb pieces out just use an 8th inch drill bit and start drilling its aluminum and easy to drill into the broken piece after about 6 holes i ran a sheet metal screw into one of the holes and pryed outward on it ,it should split and come off ,for the broken bolt i would try to turn it with a chisel mine turned easily , unless it broke before and threads are boogered or someone used locktite

I just removed my 3rd broken HB bolt. I used a regular right hand drill and easy outs the 1st time and went through hell. Drilling it drove it deeper.
The second time I checked here and someone mentioned a left hand drill bit.
Tried it and it works great. The third time I used it and had the bolt out in about 20 seconds. I'm getting to be a pro. I just wish I could get them to stop breaking at all.
