Overkill?

I was wondering if replacing old components with a 90mm Lightning Maf, a 75mm Throttlebody and 42lb injectors on a rebuilt stock motor was overkill?

The 90 maf is probably overkill. You'd want to keep your tb and maf around the same size. I have a 75 tb, and a 76 C&L maf. A 90 maf may cause idle problems as well as a/f ratio problems without tuning via a chip or eec tuner. Same with 42# injectors - tuning for them is recommended, but I've read accounts here of people using them without problems. But 42# injectors would go along with a bigger fuel pump, like a 195 lph.

I plan on taking the car to the tuner after everything is setup.
I'm getting a good 90mm Lightning Maf from a friend for $35.
I do have a 255lph Walbro fuel pump installed and have headers and
dual exhaust. The 30lb injectors are shot, so I figured I would replace
them with 42lb injectors that would allow me plenty of room for future
Mods.

I don't know if 42's will give you "plenty of room" or not but I would definitely put on some bigger injectors with an engine rebuild.

I would recommend just putting a c&l or on there, but for $35 you can't really pass up that maf ;)

There are a lot of things that people do to SC's that are overkill. Hasn't stopped anyone yet. :D

Go for it.
