I always run in "D" unless I'm on the highway at constant speed of 60mph +. My original AOD lasted about 220K miles. I can't swear that limiting OD to the highway was the reason for the longevity, but it couldn't hurt. Plus, the bumping in-and-out of Drive and ODrive is annoying.
