What an experience! I had a blast from the time the national anthem was sung with the 4 jets doing the fly over till Kurt was doing his victory burn out. It was a more tame race than I thought it would be, with so much on the line of who gets in and who doesn't for the championship chase.
I noticed it seemed to go by faster than it seems like it does on TV too. :D Maybe it's because there are no commercials. Two of the other guys that went with us tried to become human kegs and parts of the trip weren't that great, because of their behavior and not knowing when they had enough.
We selected one of them as the "Budweiser One Too Many Award" winner. :D The other was a close runner up and in some peoples eyes, should have won the award himself. I won't go into all the details, but I hope next time we go, we can leave those clowns at home.
I took some pics with a digital camera and most of them didn't turn out too good, but I'll post a few that did later.

Dave,
Im sorry you had to experience that fixed stuff they call racing. Honestly, you cant tell me its not fixed in some kinda way. How many chebys were in the front? And how many dodges were in the top 10? I stopped caring about nascar racing after i read that they pretty much made dodge quit racing after the original hemi. Thats how GM is, he was quoted to say "we will do whatever it takes to get a chevy in the front of the field", thats how it is, theres always some wimp crying about the damn winner. I can hear it now" that dodge aint far to race, his motor was better designed, better tuned, better built, disqualify him" BS.
I know im ganna start a big thing here, but thats not what im trying to do. Nascar is very commercialezed(<--sp) but not quite as bad as the NFL.
Oh and agian, it is monday, sorry :(

Tyler I understand what you are trying to say. Though I am not fimiliar with alot of the past history with nascar but I am pretty current with it and I can see how it can look to be "fixed." I honestly dont think it is fixed though.

As a long time NASCAR fan, I believe that they try to fix some of the races....
I once heard that a promoter of a race allowed some drivers to run lighter cars so they would have a better chance to win......
But who knows for sure.....
I like to see sparks flying, rubber burning, and wild rides.....
Just ask Martin Truex...... :D

Is NASCAR fixed???
Richard Petty wins July 4th Daytona race- which just happens to be his 200th win, in front of Ronald Reagan(the President at the time for all you that weren't around at the time).
Darrell Waltrip wins the Daytona 500 and promptly blows his engine crossing the finish line. Engine is deemed legal anyway, and as Jeff Hammond(Waltrip's crew chief at the time) said last year when questioned about it, it didn't matter whether the engine was legal or not, it went down as a win.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. is leading the Daytona 500 and a caution flag comes out with a handfull of laps left and race ends under yellow. Supposedly oil on the track. I think they cleaned it up with a paper towel.
And my all time favorite, Dale Sr. dies during the Daytona 500, and as if it were written in the stars, Dale Jr. wins at Daytona the following July.
Its a known fact that the France family looks after themselves and sh*ts on everyone else. I used to go to all of the Charlotte and Rockingham races, and I had a great time, but then I noticed I was paying $120 for a SEAT, and the priviledge to pee in a pee trough (if you get a case of the screamin' sh*ts, Lord help you) and pay $3 for a hot dog and $4 for a Coke. You get herded around like cattle and then sit in traffic forever tired, broke and thirsty because the hot dogs are so salty. Things could be alot better, and track owners wouldn't have to try real hard to make it that way. I go to the IRL races in Richmond, pay $99 for a front stretch seat, garage pass and track hospitality(buffet lunch with driver interviews) and an autograph session the night before the race with all of the drivers(and yes, Danica Patrick is HOTT). Concessions are the same price, but I also noticed the total lack of drunk, inbred rednecks too. Its a real enjoyable experience and I don't feel like I'm getting plugged in the rear without any lube.
I like NASCAR and will probably watch it for a few more years, but I have to admit, the France family marketing scheme is getting old. I've heard Bill France's favorite quote was, "Load the wagon, the mule is blind." I'm wondering just how long they're going to overload the wagon before the mule(the NASCAR fans) opens his eyes and decides to tell the France's to F*** off.
Sorry for writing so much, I had to vent. Heres some more food for thought: DEI dominated the restrictor plate races until NASCAR limited the size of the ring gear they could put in the rear end. Five Rousch cars are in the chase this year, and Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon are not, what rules do you think NASCAR is going to change next year???

I am in a NASCAR pool where we pick a different driver for each race and get points for where they finish......
Cost $100.00, but you can take home some serious dough for winning.....
I placed second one year and took home $700.00 :D :D :D

i'll be going to my first race next month, i think its oct 15th in north carolina... apparently the pee troughs and hairy drunk rednecks make the whole experience. :D . the big-e, my dad also is in a pool with some charlotte boys, that is just like your pool...different driver for each race, can't pick the same driver twice and if you win thats good becouse you get alot of money and if you are in dead last, you get some if not all your money back, so it pays to be a loser. i think his is a $55 pool.

You forgot to mention Jeff Gordon winning the first race at the brickyard ;)
I can't remember the last race I watched, the more commercialized it got, the less I liked it. NASCAR is as political as Washington DC... They chane the rules all the time, and they obvlously change the rules to favor the big names.
It really took the last straw when Earnhardt died, and everyone wouldn't let it the hell go... All you heard even a couple years later, was "The inteimidator, blah blah blah, looking down on us; blah blah..
Shut the hell up... Let the man alone, and then everyone that hated his guts all of a sudden was a big "3" fan.... I didn't like him before, and his dying didn't change that either. I'll give him some props, he was good; but he also got away with murder on the track, just like gordon. 3 would put someone i the wall and he was just being the ole intemidator, 24 would put someone in the wall and he was just a rookie. BS
And my major beef:
Why the hell do they still call it a stock car? There aint a damn thing Ford or chevy about a single one of them cars...
Sure I did Darlington and Charlotte back in high school, and I might hit talledega once, just since its right down the road, but NASCAR is pretty worthless these days, and its a shame...

I agree with sizemoremk, where are the stock?? cars. It was a lot better when you could look at the cars and know if they were ford or chevy or dodge. And they made radical looking cars back then, Ford Talledaga or the Dodge big winged car, [forget the name]. If not for the Hemi I don't think ford would have made the 429 shotgun??? engine. Much better when it was race what was built

I've never herd of the shotgun motor, but apparenty Boss 429 stangs had a shptgun, or maybe the quick search turned up some bad results

Maybe the "stock" is as in stock appearance. They do almost resemble cars driven on the street, less the big rear spoilers and air dams. If racing was set up to favor the big name drivers, wouldn't Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon be in the points race?
Also, since this is Rusty Wallace and Mark Martins last season, will either of them be allowed to win the nextel cup championship? Rusty has a winston cup championship to his name, but Mark doesn't. Will they finally let him win?

i went to daytona every year since 1983 , but i didnt go this year , ive been to most of the tracks in the east . i was at darlington when bill won the million it was my fav dale hit the wall so many times he put his hands up going down the backstrech meaning that he gave up . it just isnt fun anymore to much traffic and to high prices , i was at charllotte when mark martin won the million too it was very exciting . i still believe dale didnt have his helmet on when he got killed i have a pic of him the lap before and you can see his ears and his head i attached the pic but you will prob have to save it then enlarge it to see , and all the lady on the safety crew would say was normally they would cut the helmet safety strap but she didnt have too , it didnt even look like a bad wreck i didnt think much of it till i heard the news on the way home , then they tried to blame poor mr simpson cause they say the seatbelt installed wrong broke . dale wrecked al unser jr so many times in the iroc race al unser quit iroc and terry labonte threw his iroc racing suit in the trash cause they gave dale new tires and nobody else . then he wrecked i forget his name after the race was over on the backstrectch cause he got beat i was pissed nascar did nothing about it like my dad said what if the poor guy loosened his seatbelt that wasnt right , and how about dale jr a few weeks ago that was speeding on pit road 3 or more times and they warned him dont do it again or we will penalize you . i never heard of a warning for that either you did or didnt

Lets see...things that cant be controlled by someone else..."Oh no...the only way that the 16 car can make it back on the lead lap is if there is a caution...WOW...the #6 car JUST went into a spin..." Lets see. Yep it happened. Wannan know about the 2 car and the 24 car smashing sides and the 24 passing below the apron while the 10 car was ON F***ING fire below that SAME apron...24 car gets the win. 2 car continues to run up front. He is warned 3 times about passing the pace car before it leaves the track...He didnt win that race and was never told when he could go full throttle. Hmmmm...wonder who their pick was. I also know the guy was was first in line to work ALL of the wrecks. He used to be a NASCAR fan too. Its funny to see the look on peoples faces who already know the secret of how Earnhart died...and I let emm know that I know too... ;). You can thank THAT family for the new law in Florida now. You can not be in possession of an accident report within 48 (I think its 48) hours after it happens because THEY did not want the truth getting out. What 30 plus cameras in that car and NO ONE can tell you what happened.

You mean like the way Tony Stewart seemed to be unstoppable leading up to the Brickyard, making him an odds on favorite to win? And he did. Hasn't done much since then though. Yeah, sometimes it's seems if if it's been scripted.

Seriously if Cheverolet is going to do anything to stay on top of Nascar no matter what the cost they sure have not been making any progress lately as I see all 5 of the Roush Racing cars are in the chase. Plus what team has won the Nextel cup the last two years in a row? So why in the world would Cheverlet consider killing off Dale Earnhardt sr. to be on top? Was it some sort of a setup or is Earnhardt sr. playing Elvis?

So its like that huh? Well tuffy, here is the deal. Sr. IS really dead, and IF you think I am really blowing smoke, YOU do some research...Start with finding out how long after his death did FL change the law stating you can no longer be in possession of an accident report unless you have a subpoenia, are an involved party, or it is less then 48 hours after the wreck. I know it is not directly related to NASCAR, but you will see the big picture when your answer lies in a number of days....Oh...next time you call me out on the BS meter...you MAY want to start with a tad more knowldege of who you are dealing with...I know a tad more then I let on.
