In case anyone's wondering, I'll be leaving town, probably tomorrow night and headin' up to San Marcos to stay with wife's friend until this thing figures out where it's goin' and blows outta here. And yes, I'm takin' the SC with me

hey Rick as of now i am staying here, being on the north side i should be fine, depending on its exact track...probably alot of rain and maybe some hurricance force winds, i shouldn't have too many problems, i will probably put my 95 at work in the shop with chris' sc, as for the 35th i am not sure, as i don't have any room for it here in the garage.
If u need anything let me know or chris.
Are u boarding up etc?

Well after watching the news this morning I think I will be leaving town also. My house is old and im sure will fall apart with the winds. We planned to stay and wait it out if it didnt go above a 3 and the news just said it turned to a 3 this morning and wil go to a 5 by tomorrow night. Depending on where we go I might take the sc with me. If so then Robert you can park both here if Wil is cool with it. I just cant take a chance and leave it here. I will be going to the San Antonio area or Dallas area.

I'm working for an insurance company here in the north east and we are removing all of last night tape backups on all servers from the state of Texas to the North East. This must be a huge storm.

If anyone is in the San Antonio area and needs a place to put an SC or other vehicle, we have plenty of space along the street. The garage is full but it should be relatively safe outside and we can keep an eye on it for you.

I got a new Generator (second one), 10 gallons of fresh water I bought plywood yesterday, about 8-10 D cell batt's, 4 flashlights Recarchargeable batteries, 12V batteries (car) an inverter (700 watt), Non perishable food, Perishable food, Ice, Ice chest, 2 gallons of Gatorade, camp stove and fuel. I should be OK, Plus about 100 rounds of 9mm ammo and a carbine and pistol. Plus 3 .22's and by my estimation about 2K rounds for them. I hope all goes well I am sending the Wife and Daughter to Spring or Conroe farther north.

Hey, sure appreciate the thought! When a storm does like this one it's kinda hard to miss 600 miles of coastline. I just Don't wish this stuff on nobody.

WELL YOU GUYS BETTER GET THE HECK OUTTA DODGE!!!

I haven't heard any ot the latest since noonish when the hurricane had weakened alittle... but 150 mph winds is still pretty scary.

I also heard that it was taking about 13 hours to travel 40 miles....

DON"T WAIT TOO LONG!!!

GOOD Luck Guys!!!

Upon further discussion and speaking with several friends that tried Ailica and Renee are staying here. Unless she left unprepared she wouldn't have been able to make it to Conroe so they are staying here. We got the windows covered with plywood today. Everything else is taken care of now just wait.....

Jeff

Hope everyone makes it out alright or get them hatches battoned down.

We started to head west but traffic was to much for the bird. I think the heater core busted and over heated. It seems to be fine on the way back home in Pasadena. We will be heading to the north side early in the morning.

I just finished the last of my running around and stuff. Got the Lumina, Taurus and El Camino all stored in the shop locked it up and put the last board on the front of the shop. In all there are 3 cars and 2 trucks in our shop. There is no one on this earth that could get the El camino to run but me so anyone that wants to steal the cars is going to have a hell of a time. ;) Dead battery + hole in fuel line means that it's next to impossible to get it running unless you feel like filling the carb bowls every few minutes. Not that anyone would steal it but you gotta move it to steal anything else. I also turned off all power in the building so if they do get in they won't have run of the place. Anyone I do see over there will be considered target practice since I am going to miss my match Saturday.

Jeff

Everybody stay safe.

Cops over here are pretty good. They cruise down the road and check on the houses. I dont know how long they will when the rain hits. I wish I could do some target practice too.

Actually I hadnít seen a cop since I bought a few things at Home Depot. The streets are deserted just a few cars here and there. This morning it was surreal, cars were running red lights and it was kinda crazy. This afternoon I have seen quite a few cops, and several DOT trucks escorting small tanker trucks straight up Bingle, I guess either for stranded motorists or maybe gas stations, I donít know. There isnít anywhere around here that has gas. One thing that really pissed me off was I saw one station that went from $2.59 a gallon the other day to $3.09 that really chaps my ~~~. Most of the other stations went up from $2.69 to $2.89 the same day. Glad I filled up the cars before all the chaos. Iím going to go take a nap.

Well, last look, looks like Beaumont/Port Arthur towards NO is going to take the brunt of the storm... You guys Take Care!

At least there's no Houston traffic reports... unfortunately the outbound routes have become parking lots.

We're running out of gas here in DFW... the station I fill up at is usually one of the lowest priced... filled up yesterday at $2.67 but it's up to $2.79 today, who know's tomorrows price.

Keep in touch as you can and stay safe!!!

Nap time, mmm. Well winds have picked up and it's starting to sprinkle. There is a number of cars going up and down Bingle, the usual sirens of ambulances, and cop cars. Now it's hurry up and wait.

Are you saying the roads in DFW area are jammed? I haven't heard anything about the traffic here. My wife is still glued to the TV watching the idiots that stand put in this and brodcast live. Damnit I wanted to watch Cops.

yea its been a lil gusty around here, i would est. around 35 or 40 mph at the most.
As it gets closer to land we may get 50-70 mph maybe...and of course rain looks to be heavy for a few days.....enough of that...a few cold ones and i will forget everything :D

Are you guys alright?

Word here is that Houston is without power, so I'm sure the surrounding areas are as well... looks like the eye of Rita passed over Beaumont towards Lufkin and is headed towards Texarkana.

Well the Dallas area is normally pretty congested... but the highways from South Texas were packed... there was also a bus of evacuees from a nursing home which caught fire and exploded just south of Dallas which added to the traffic movement.

Let us know how you are as you can.

We are fine haven't heard from Vern or Wynn It was worse where Wynn lives I hope everything is alright. His mail box (phone) has been full for days. I am trying to get a hold of Vernon.

Were We are there is very little damage, the blocks north and south of us are without power, but we didn't even lose satellite signal (which is odd, since every time it raind it goes out), go figure. Hope everyone else is OK.

Jeff

EDIT: I spoke with Vernon in Magnolia and he lost power but everything else is OK.

Glad to hear You and Vernon are safe...

It is odd sometime, never can tell what Mother Nature will do... I've had it raining in the backyard and dry in the front...

Did you hear whether Wynn was sticking it out at home or leaving town?

Vernon's brother Stephen did have a house in Beaumont as well but since he married I'm not sure if he moved to Houston or not?

Chris, Rick, Mike, Robert, Nick, Dan, Steve, etc... just to list a few of all of the T-birders who live in and around that area which may be without power... Josh I think headed out and is up here in Dallas. Louisiana got hit pretty hard again... and NO is flooding again.

Well I missed all the Rita fun. Back from Asia and just wondering how everyone is doing? Is there much rebuilding or loss. I wanted to offer my house to Calvin or whoever when over in China but Dave (Focus) said Calvin was at relatives. I read that now that I am back. That was before I even knew about Rita. It was on the news over there, but I had to get in an American brand hotel bar to get CNN in English to just get a little info before it hit.

If Wynn got it the worsed how is he doing?
