Has anyone removed theirs - what do you prefer moldings or no moldings???
How do you remove them - lets see pics of cars without them.

leave them on....its what sets aside a SouperCoupe from a regular v-6.

I was up in the air about this myself, then I seen XR7 Daves Cougar without them (I'm pretty sure it was Daves) and I loved the look...it made the body look alot smoother...I guess it help cause he's got a damn fine looking Cougar!

i think it depends on the car. it looks good on dark cars like the blue one in the pic. sometimes on light colored cars it looks awkward. i'm debating on mine at the moment as well, i have a titanium. i'm taking mine of when i paint it so, i'm going to remove one side and see what i like better.

It looks kinda mustangish without the panels. It loses the classy feel that I've always liked about SCs.

I think that it's hard to say from that picture...
At least I cannot see the lower side of the door properly.

Perhaps someone could post a picture with the trim. What trim is being referenced? The black stripe along the side, or plastic near the bottom above the ground effects? I have no stripe, and no other molding besides the gfx.

I personally preferred them on the car.. It kind of gives the car a more streamlined look to it.. On a light colored car it made the car look naked without em.. Like something was missing.. But you most DEFENITELY should paint the moldings to match the color of the car if you do decide to leave em on.. Here is an old (but nice :)) pic of my old SC when i had the moldings painted to match the body color..

are they taped on or are there holes underneath? i've been waiting to take mine off too on my black car...

On the 94/95, I know they are taped on. Also, I think it looks to plain without them on. It helps give it the long sleek look by giving it another body line the length of the side of the car.

did you take yours off...just wondering how you know they're taped on without holes? i took one off my GTP only to find out there was holes :(
i think my car would look better with them off because it's lowered & tinted...

Yes, mine have been off. My car was repainted a little over a year ago and all moldings were taken off at that time. I saw my car without the moldings. No holes. (And it looked wrong, IMHO) And then it was taped back on.

i prefer them off.....expecailly when the car is lowered...
i have left mine off and my cousin both left them off after painting
i think it looks bad ~~~ without
todd
They are all taped on, they are put there to protect from door dings, not to make it look cool.
I have a black sc, at first when i had it painted i wasnt too crazy bout the moulding off, but now i think it looks much better without it. but i think i like it better on lighter colors, ONLY if you paint them to match the car color, black mouldings on a white car look pretty mismatched.

to those who have taken the mouldings off, did the paint underneath get wrecked or did the paint mismatch the rest of your car due to the environment? i don't want any surprises if i taken them off...thanx...
i had them removed when my car was painted so i couldnt tell ya if there was much discolor. and if there is, you can always go out and but a good car polish, do a few coats, throw some wax over it and you should be laughin. if not, take em off buy some new tape and reapply them. only downside of takin em off of a car which isnt black is then u have the "mouldings" on the front and rear bumper as well.

to KwikGSeX (nice launch pic by the way) and to others who have painted their moldings.
people have told me that the paint won't stick, obviously yours has, is there anything special you did to them to get the paint to adhere?

There was absolutely no paint chipping off the moldings or the door handle for that matter (that was painted also) I had the car painted like that for 3 years before i sold it a year ago so i cant attest to what it looks like now.. But it was solid for 3 years :)

I wanted them off on my LX, it just did not look right with them. But now I have an SC, and mine are the same color as my car, and it looks sweet. If they were black though, i would surely take them off.

I guy I know had his T-Bird painted. He called me over to look at it and when I saw his car, it had a great paint job, but there was something I didn't like about how it looked, and I couldn't put my finger on it until he told me that the side moldings where taken off.
I definitely like them on. Without them the car seems a little "OFF".
