Here is the update, had to cut and paste...
Reminder: THIS WEEKEND
2005 SVTOA Central Florida Poker Run (aka Hurricane Run)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Poker Run is absolutely this weekend.
We have a great Sunday drive mapped, $1,000s in prizes to award, and an awesome lunch planned. Non Ford vehicles and drivers welcome as this is a benefit event. 100% of the proceeds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
I've received several calls from gamblers asking about the date for next years "SVTOA Hurricane Poker Run." Something about going out to Las Vegas and making book ... So maybe we should rename this event.
For those of you planning to attend please bring an umbrella and put those nasty old floor mats in the car. We have some activites planned that will require you to get out of the car. If we do have a rain shower (never sure when, not if, it is going to rain in Florida) you'll want to have some protection for you and the floor of your car. Lunch will be indoors if it is too hot. There will be plenty of TVs to watch your favorite Race and Football Game with Pool Tables, Darts, Video Games, and opportunities to be social.
The run route looks great and so do the T-Shirts. The short "Gas Saver" run route (28 miles) is going to be great fun with some very nice prizes for making each check point and participating in the planned activities. The longer "Sunday in the Country" run route (84 miles) includes the short route plus will take you into the Florida countryside on some really fun twisty-hilly roads lined with 100 year old oak trees and charming old Florida to please your senses. Printed maps and guides will be provided at Don Reid Ford.
The Poker Run begins 9:30am at Don Reid Ford 1875 South Orlando Avenue in Maitland Florida 32751. Registration closes Sunday at 11:30 sharp. We have the lunch at Oyster Bay 1259 SR 436 in Casselberry with awards at 3:00pm. See maps links to left.
For more information on this event see the Poker Run FAQ. We will be at Oyster Bay Saturday night accepting registrations and handing out packets and T-shirts for pre-registered participants. Hope to see you there also!
We know some of you are concerned about the impending landfall of Hurricane Wilma. We are keeping a watchful eye on the storm with the NOAA and the NHC and beleive we are currently in the clear.
The storm is expected to be more the 500 miles from Orlando Sunday afternoon and make land fall late Monday. The evacuation of the keys has been suspended and Biketoberfest is continuing as planned. If anything changes we will contact you via both telephone and email as well as make a post on our website.
In any case drive safe and responsibly.
