Short vs. long balancer bolt pic

The bolt on the right is the Mustang bolt the blue line is where it broke. It has a massive head compared to the other one but it only holds with 5 threads on a BHJ.

Are you sure the balancer is all the way back where its surpose to be? My balancer is held on more than just 5 threads.

Rich Thompson at www.mn12performance.com sells the correct bolt for the BHJ balancer. He 's a GREAT guy to deal with!

I bought the correct size bolt when Rich first posted about it, but I'm too lazy to change it. I had not heard of anyone beaking the shorter bolt until now. Maybe I better get it done before my luck runs out.

I went and bought a bolt from Ace hardware. They have all 10.9 grade. The one I got was M14-1.50 and 50mm long.

What about studding the crank?

I think this would be a better alternative......

I still run the shorter bolt. I had got my BHJ and installed it long before people started having them break. I too am like Neibert and to lazy to swap it out.
