Hi everyone.
Been floating around TCCoA since it began. I've owned my blue 92 5.0L Sport for over 10 years. Slight mods consist of a K&N panel filter, later model T-Bird electric fan, long tube headers and true dual exhaust. The rest is stock. Even with 150k miles, the original AOD & 3.08 single track rear, she still rips it up. The Sport was essentially parked once a green 95 4.6L LX fell into my lap 4 years ago. The Sport has reached the point (or well passed it) of needing the entire suspension and brakes to be done. Rocker panels and paint are needed to make it right. Although it doesn't smoke or run bad, mileage dictates a timing chain and valve seals replacement. So it's now a starting point to do serious mods (Cobra Brakes, MN12 Performance bushings, cylinder heads, cam, etc.) and serious spending.
It's no wonder the LX became my daily driver. A couple months ago the LX was hit in the rear while backing out of a parking spot. Insurance co. totalled it due to the slight bend in the frame rails. Car's sitting until junk-it-or-fix-it situation is resolved. The Sport was thrown into active duty with something new breaking every other day! After I was stranded with a dead starter, I realized the need for another car to hold me over.
Enter the SC
Bought a 92 5 speed SC for $1000. The wife was delighted... not! It had lots of work done to it by the previous owner. Still, old cars have new problems popping up. Funny, I did 2 starters in 2 weeks! First the Sport then the SC the week after I got it! Either way, it's all good. Love the SC although it's rustier underneath than either of my other Birds. A 5 speed in an MN12 is an awesome combination. And with that SC'ed V6 torque you've got the whole package. Ford did their homework on these. I wish they'd do it again so I could buy one new instead of always playing with old cars.
The SC rocks! Thanks for reading.
