Gear Lube Question

I just finished rebuilding the 2.73 Rear Differential out of my 1990 SC and I need to know what the best gear lube is to use in the Rear DIff. Also do I need to put any special additive into it?

Thanks.

Yes, it's a posi (or trac loc) additive from Ford. Use Mobil 1 synthetic for the gear oil.

mybee try this MaxGear 75W90 for the rear limited slip differential
Royal Purple :) im gonna be putting this in my car after i put it back together

The spec calls for conventional 75W90 gear oil (3 pints + 4ozs of friction modifier should fill it). However if you go with synthetic then I'd use 75W140 plus a synthetic modifier (like Redline). Ford now specs the 75W140 synthetic for almost all diffs.

Ford vs. GM

If you use the Ford Friction Modifier, it's for a Trac-Loc. Ford never used an Eaton Positive Traction differential.
