95 Supercharger damage

A friend of mine just bought a 95 motor complete with the blower. We took the outlet adaptor off of the blower and found that the teflon coating on the lobes is flaking off. About 15% of it is gone. Any ideas what would cause this? The blowers turns fine, but sounds a little noisy. Thanks

Thats completely normal for those blowers. I have seen late style blowers new from Magnusen lose that junk plasticote (ITS NOT TEFLON CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF!) coating as early as 4 months after installation. Personally, I recommend you stay away from rotors with that coating as it simply ends up being ingested into your engine.....thats just my view on it of course.

I read an article not so long ago about the coating on the rotors of our superchargers flaking off. The article stated that it will flake off under extreme heat. What size pulley is on it? How was the engine driven?
