I started wondering why my car did not seem to pull up top like it should. I called K&N and found that the factory size K&N can flow 600 cfm @ 1 1/2 inches of water vacuum. I started to to do some math acording to the maf count readings. I converted the figures and double checked the math with sct and my car is pulling 710 cfm at 5800 rpm. I decided to use a large cone filther with much more surface area over the factory size air filter. It has 40% more surface area. This should snifgantly reduce the vacuum. I did not want to draw hot air from the engine compartment. I did not want to use a airfilther located under the factory air box for fear it could possiably suckup water I was left with only choice since no aftermarket box is available for a Thunderbird. I had to build my own air box. The Mustang guys have it easy. I spent several hours making and remaking several cardboard templets till I got it right. I transfered it to some recovered aluminum used a cutoff wheel to make it. I used a hammer, vice and drill to bent the allumnim. I probly have 20 hours into the airbox. I hope you enjoy it.

Looks good, man. Nice work. How's it performing, any noticeable change in the car now?
