Well fellas, i think im going to sell my XR7, its causing me toooooo many headaches. I got in it today and started it, it fired right up, then i killed it, went to fire it back up, mo fo didnt want to start back up. Finally got it started, pulled it in the shop and did a few things to it. Got back in it to start it, damn thing didnt want to start, took FOREVER to get it started. Then i hear the sound of my frickin lifters messing up. Ive got soooooo much money sunk in to that car right now, its not really even worth to fix anymore IMO. I will say this, you guys are great. Maybe if i do finally decide to sell it, then i will buy another that wont require any work at all, hell i dunno, SC are great cars, but damn, takes too much frickin money to keep the damn things running and all that good stuff, and money if something i dont have alot of! Anywho, thanks for listening to me vent for a while.

Dude, that's nothing. Over the years I've gone thru a clutch, then the week I got it back twisted the shaft before the driveshaft (thanks Dad for the $1500 new tranny :( ), my radiator leaks, I went thru over 15 GALLONS of brakefluid for a few months, I raise and lower my driver window BY HAND (yes, I palm the window and move it up and down, leaving excellent nasty hand prints) just to get into my girl's apartmnet complex or fast food!
I split another motor mount, windshield cowls are cracked, headlights point downward, paint is JACKED UP!, shakes over 75 mph, parking brake GONE, clutch shaking the car, and on top of that...
NONE of my girlfriends have EVER liked the car.
You'll keep it, you know you will :)

Oh and Rick had to torch my strut rod just to replace the bushing since it was rusted soooo badly.
Also, Kaufmann Tire in Douglasville told me my car was too dangerous to work on and refused to do business with me.

Dude..... take a deep breath and step back for a bit. Felt like you, been there got the t-shirt.... as alot of us have had.
There's alot of folks here that know so much about these cars that if your patient and willing to listen, we can help you figure your problem.
I have a feeling, especially since you've poured so much into her, that you would regret shortly after if she left you.
Shortly after I bought mine, the HG's went and man did I get pissed.... (alcohol consumption not a point at that time) but I rebuilt the top end and damn, I have had so much fun driving her over the summer, including quick launches off the line up to the speed limit out of a light and to see the  look on a was proud mazda 3 or civic dressed to the nines... and even a camaro and firebird..... and a few others.... and not having to burn rubber or exceed the speed limit.
Hang in and let us help you out. At this time I'd say if you can, take a rest from the ole girl and catch your breath.

Dudes and Dudettes, this car is frickin CRAZY! it must have sensed me being pissed at and being close to parting it out. I went over to the shop tonight and i figured just for kicks, i would try to start it to see it the lifters are still screwed. Frickin car fired right up after like 2 cranks! I didnt hear any lifters at all, idled like a dream, i revved it up to about 3500 RPM to see if it did it, held it there for about 2 min, sounded fine, got kinda pissed at thought it put it to the test, revved her up to 6k a few times, and still sounded GREAT. I even let it idle for a really really long time, and well still sounded/idled great. i dont know what this cars deal it, its really weird. Maybe it just got jealous because it seen this new girl i just started dating and didnt like it???????? I dunno, yet, i still may part it out, if it pulls this BS again, it will be gone for sho. Ive sank around 6-700 bones in this car and id really hate to part it out. But, if i got to sink another 100 or 200 in it and tear it down again for mechanical reasons, ITS GONE JOHNSON!!!!! Damn XR7

Maybe you flooded it or something?
I'd have sold mine long long long ago if I did't love driving it....when it is running right anyways:D That outweighs the bad times by far...
If only I had this common sense before I sold my 68' Dodge Dart GTS..:(

Your not sounding like the dumbass, I was the DA:o , as I didn't read the lifter part of it.
My SC... if I kill it, seems like it don't want to start. I was wondering how I can flood it if it is EFI, but that is what it acts like when I stall it...

Dude, Dont give up on your car. I have been so womanly pathetic with mine. I have realized its not worth it to give in. If you have put time, money and bloody knuckles into it....Keep it. Its only worth what you think its worth. I have been quitting since day one. But if there are two things I have learned in the time I have owned my car. This site is well worth its dues and will give you what you need to be an SC proctologist. My antics and patience have caused me to push alot of offered info from the members here because of my antics.
I will stand firm and state that my car is one of the few decent stock SC's around. I offered it for sale for a decent price and was treated like I just got off the little yellow bus with a helmet on. I may have no patience but stupid I am not. After seeing some of the crap in the for sale section for more than what I was asking and for a bigger POS! I am keeping my car and if it takes a life time, I am going balls out and doing my car. If you like the car, keep it and buy a hoopty. I just bought a ricer for transportation. Its not a FORD but the saved gas alone will help get the SC where I want it. Merry Christmas

Well im pretty sure that im going to hang on to it. I decided id take it for a drive around the block a few times. One of my buddys thought i was full of ~~~~ when i told him it was fast so i took him for a drive :D We turned out of the drive way and i hamered it, tires immediatly broke loose and it kicked sideways, i let off of it and asked him if he still thought i was lieing, well not to bad, but still aint that quick. Well i turned out on another street and hammered it and didnt let off of it at 45, we hit 45 MPH in nothing flat, not even half a block, he couldnt beleive it. I think thats the hardest that car has ever put me back in the seat. I got him to beleivin me now!

Wow...you spent a whole $700 fixing your car !!
If you think it's such a POS why don't you quit complaining and just sell it. If you want a car that never breaks down, then go in debt and buy something newer.

I've spent a good $1300 rebuilding with the cost of sensors and all the other stuff that has gone bad over the one year i've owned my car. I paid $1000 for the car knowing that you get what you pay for. I knew I was going to have to rebuild it or put a good amount of money into it to keep it run. I haven't complained once about the car or even thought twice about selling it.
Just suck it up because I know for a fact that there are people that have put alot more money than you in a car to keep it running. That would be alot of money to put in a bicycle, but not a car.

Yeap, I found out by my own that if you like whining and complaining than Supercoupe is not for you.:D
Either suck it up or sell it and shut up! Merry Xmas, bro. We know that you won't sell it. We all feel it for you. ;)

I spent $5500 on my black SC in the spring of 2003 to go through it and replace everything (clutch, trans, shocks, springs, diff bushings, control arms, motor mounts, fuel pump, exhaust, ps high pressure line, ball joints, tie rods, etc....) and now it needs a paint job, a door hinge rebuild kit, new shocks, a ps pump, a cooling fan, motor mounts, rack and pinion, another high pressure line. I am so pissed at the junk stock motor mounts. Oh well I am probably going to just pull the whole motor out, put all new gaskets on it, new motor mounts, throw in a new rack and ps pump and line, etc... Oh yeah frickin gas tank leaks over 1/2 full again. I patched it before, but now its time to get a new tank.
So, I have my work cut out for me this spring.
$700 isn't that bad.
I love these cars passionately or I would have sold mine back when it was all broken and used the money to get a 5.0L GT or maybe an LT1 Z28. And for $5500 I could be in the 11's in those cars.
$700 and you are ready to hang it up? I never bought this car as a daily driver. I bought it cause its differant. I quit counting at over $8000. I will probably put another $5000 or more in it. Its what you want, go buy a nice daily driver and keep yoyr car as a toy. Work on it when you feel like it, or sell it if you want its your call.
