While browsing through some archives, I've noticed that many of you like the B&M Ripper. Some of the older threads on the subject say that the Ripper is the only aftermarket shifter available but I've found a Hurst that apparently will work for our cars. It's called a Hurst Billet Plus. Anyone know anything about this or have any advice on which one to go with? My stock shifter is falling apart so I figured now would be a good time to upgrade. Thanks.

personally, i love the b&m. it has a little shorter of a throw, and it feels a lot more accurate than the oem one to me, rebuilt or not.

Looking around on the Summit Racing site for Hurst shifters, and also on the Mr. Gasket site (Hurst is under the Mr. G. umbrella), the only M5R2 shifter I can see listed is for an F-150 application.

Maybe you the one you found is for a T5 application in a Fox-body Thunderbird?

The part number for the Hurst is HUU-3915031. According to the Summit Racing site, the Ripper seems to be the only one specifically designed for a SC (as you all have said.) What is confusing to me is that it says the Hurst will work for 3.8 Birds from '83-'91.

What they mean is that it will work on the Fox body Bird. Transmissions were totally different in 83-88.
